Over at Blastr:How Superman's creator put a curse on the new movie back in 1975 It's no secret that Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster lived in poverty for a long time while fighting for what they felt was their fair share of the money that their superhero generated for his publisher. But the announcement of the first Superman movie in 1975 led Siegel to take things to a whole new level. MORE: blastr.com/2012/07/how-supermans-creator-put.php

Wow. I still wish they could make a good Superman movie. Years ago I thought Superman 2 was pretty good. The first one with Christopher Reeve was kind of dull. I knew the origins of Superman. That's why I liked 2 so much. I never liked any of the others. I think we were better off with the old George Reeves TV show. ;D

Years ago I thought Superman 2 was pretty good. The first one with Christopher Reeve was kind of dull. Huh? The first film with Reeve was a bit long, but I liked it, including the earlier parts of the film focusing on his origin and him having grown into a teenager. S2 was good too, but after that they went downhill. But I liked the first movie even if they should have trimmed it down by about ten or twelve minutes.

I think the origin part of Superman was great, but once he became Superman, they didn't have a plot worthy of the character.
Plus there were a lot of plot holes, like why there wasn't an earthquake when Superman traveled back in time. My only guess is that he traveled back further than we saw, saved a lot of people, and THEN got to Lois.

Definitely. Hard to say if the movie looked good or not, but Russell Crowe looked good as Jor-El.
I LOATHE the casting of Laurence Fishbourne as Perry White. That is a message that this movie is going to be just another PC statement.
My instinct is that Superman will be wimpy again.

This narration by Brando--the portion that they use here in particular--was another one of the things that I really loved about the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve ...there was just something about it that really grabbed me internally, which is why I'm a little baffled that the first film, or the second one for that matter, which granted, had a very different tone compared to the first, didn't please you too, Marc.
At any rate, over at Blastr:See how better Man of Steel's trailer is with Brando's narration Though most fans prefer the extended, (currently bootlegged) Comic-Con cut of the Man of Steel trailer, the shorter teaser shown in theaters this weekend wasn't bad—and is actually a whole lot cooler with some classic Superman touches mixed in. That is NIGHT and DAY.
That music is so iconic, and it's REALLY a bad decision not to use it.
I did like the first two Superman movies.

I did like the first two Superman movies. You indicated that the first one didn't have a plot worthy of the character though, beyond the origin parts of the film at the beginning.

That's actually true. It WAS a good movie, but once Superman's debut was over, the movie took a down turn.
Just because it was a good movie doesn't mean it was without fault.
It's hard to make a good origin Superman movie because the first story has to define the character, and you can't debut Superman at the same time as a major threat that can do him physical harm.
It's the second movie where the stakes have to be raised. But that sucks for the first movie.
They did it right with the first two movies by coming up with a mega plot and filming them together.
I believe a good Superman story should be done Lord of the Rings style, with 3 movies being filmed together, with one ongoing plot.
Release them one year apart.
One villain, as powerful or more than Superman, pulling the strings, culminating in a massive brawl in the finale.

I didn't get enough out of the trailer to truly decide if I'm pumped or worried.
I hate the costume and I hate the lighting. But hopefully the movie can get beyond that.

surprisingly accurate list for the most part.
I really want to see a Superman movie where he doesn't fly. In fact, if David Goyer wants to talk about approaching "Man of Steel" with real world logic, he should have given serious thought to a no-flight Supes.
One not on the list: any time Frank Miller wrote the character. He does not understand Superman.

This is true. Frank Miller really doesn't get it. But I don't think anyone in Hollywood gets it.
The arrogance of Hollywood to change a character they didn't create has been terrible.
The development of the last movie was wrong at every stage, from Nicholas Cage to the consistent need to shove in the Death of Superman storyline.
Superman should never be shown as weak, yet in the last movie, he was weak mentally and physically.
Now they are changing the costume, and the race and gender of iconic characters. Jenny Olsen? Seriously?
David Goyer is the writer who actually thought it was a good idea to have Superman renounce his citizenship, and before that, Hollywood pissed on the "American way" portion of truth, justice and the American Way.
Superman would never, EVER, under ANY circumstances, lose a fight to Batman, even if Batman had 100000000 years to prepare.
If you don't accept these facets of Superman, you don't get Superman.

If you don't accept these facets of Superman, you don't get Superman. Everything you said was on point, but these things especially I just cannot get passed, particularly point two as listed here above. As much as I would like to look forward to this film, when you hand the screenplay over to the same writer who has shown clear disdain for this country in what he chose to depict the character doing, then no one should expect anything different attitudinally in the way gets depicted in the film.
But we saw this coming in the last movie with that whole "Superman is a citizen of the world crap", and his renouncing his American citizenship is only a natural extension of that BS.
This is why I refuse to look the other way when celebrity actors choose to talk down America, because that philosophy and mindset is not just restricted to their own personal opinions, but also seeps into the films that get produced. Hollywood is mostly one large clique, and I'm fed up with them too, not just the leftists that are tearing down and destroying this country politically.

This stuff pisses me off too. Superman was an alien child raised by Earth parents who instilled American values in him. Superman is the ultimate American. He didn't just come from another shore, he came from another galaxy. If Hollywood doesn't like Superman , make some Lefty Hero they can use to peddle their destructive agenda.

It really does stink. I'm really just hoping that the movie itself, which has a plot guarded not unlike Star Trek, is just better than the crap that HAS leaked.
Nothing good about this movie has leaked. I'm just trying to be optimistic.

Ok, on youtube, I recently found the latest Man of Steel trailer, and a 30 second spot which is like a General Zod commercial.
I'll admit, for the first time, I have some optimism.
First time I saw footage that made me want to see the movie.

First time I saw footage that made me want to see the movie. I viewed that trailer on two different websites, and in both places, all I saw was a silver screen comprised of nothing but distortion. Should I have posted it? Should I have viewed it on my desktop or laptop rather than on my phone? Maybe that was the problem. If so, apologies.

I don't like the look of Krypton. In fact, I have to be honest ...I don't think I like the look of this movie at all. It has a dark CGI aura to it that's all too reminiscent of "300", and I don't think that fits Superman at all. However, once again I will add that I watched this trailer on my phone, not on my PC.
But still, my phone has an HD display.
