To me it was a dumb PC maneuver and a sign of RDM's arrogance.

Oh I agree he's an arrogant smug bastard. You only have to see his gratuitous cameo in the finale to realise that.

It's a call sign, but it's also more than that. If they didn't want it to somehow be connected to the original, they wouldn't have had the same character names and show name.

I'm surprised no one has commented about this here yet.
I thought it looked like a Web series, primarily because of the close shooting that was so evident throughout much of it, along with the fact that it had a very thin plot. I'm glad they aired it because I may not have bothered looking at it as a Web series otherwise, but I think the way in which the SyFy Channel handled the whole affair was pretty sleazy. They pooh-poohed the effort so as to make clear that they weren't going to pursue a weekly television series, and now it's abundantly clear why: because they hired most of the BSG production team for "Defiance", which will hit the airwaves very soon.

I forgot about it. Haven't seen it. Honestly, I don't care all that much about BSG prequels. The characters weren't so compelling that I need to see anymore about them.

I watched the two-hour episode of Blood and Chrome. I liked it enough to want to see more, but apparently, nothing is scheduled! How weird to show part of it with no plans to show more. I don't watch webisodes, because they aren't captioned.
