Seeing the success of the Marvel movies, especially Avengers, really annoys me that DC can't seem to get its act together and do something similar.
I really believe DC has the better characters. I'm a HUGE Superman fan, and I tend to gravitate much more toward the DC characters.
Yet Hollywood can't get it done. I'm guessing part of it is because the people out there just don't get Superman, and if you don't get Superman, you can't do DC right.
Without a proper Superman, there can't be a good JLA story.
Frustrating.

Whole-heartedly agree. While I think there's a lot of good in Marvel's universe and certain characters of the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby era, I still prefer DC's big icons. Now, DC as a company has its problems of course (Before Watchmen??? Come ON!), but I agree I'd like to see some of their potential on the big screen. They do well with the animation. Why not get Paul Dini to work on a live action script?
Yes, a lot of people don't get Superman. Singer seemed to mostly get it, he just didn't know what to do with it then. Everything now is Batman, and even then it's more the dark brooding Frank Miller Batman and less the vigilante detective that Bob Kane created. A coworker mentioned to me recently he'd love to see a Batman set in the 1940s and really play up that angle, and I think it would be a cool idea.
Though I'm not a Whedon fanboy, I'm very curious about his Wonder Woman script (as well as David Kelley's pilot).
Looks like they're gonna keep playing it safe with TV though. Heard anything about the new Green Arrow series?

Marvel does good animation, but DC animation is actually better. It shows they CAN do ti.
Funny you mention the new Green Arrow series. I went to high school with one of the creators.
Singer I don't think got Superman. I think he just was a big fan of a director that got Superman.
Even the JLA cartoon, which starting in Season 2, was awesome, didn't do justice for Superman.
I think whoever does a JLA movie needs to be a fan of Superman first, not Batman first.
The only issue with Dini is he seems to be more pro Batman, and Superman would suffer. Superman CAN'T suffer or the thing doesn't work.
At no point can Superman ever be weak, barring kryptonite. Superman is the ultimate force of good. He should be able to kick the crap out of the entire JL combined if he had to. But he also holds back.
So in a JL movie, you need a villain that could take down the entire JL, and Superman is the last defense. A real bastard, who happens to be a real threat.
You want to see a good Wonder Woman movie? See the cartoon movie from a few years back. It was unbelievable. Make it 20-30 minutes longer, and that script would have been a blockbuster if it was cast right.
If I were doing a JLA movie, one of 2 things would happen.
1. It would be JLA v. the Legion of Doom. Bring in some of the big bad guys of each of the heroes, and band them together, so the best way to beat them is for the HEROES to work together.
2. Darkseid. There are enough New Gods characters to occupy the entire Justice League, while Superman takes on the big guy.
I think that's the key. A JLA movie needs to center around Superman. He may be able to handle all the bad guys one on one, but there can be so many of them that he needs help. Even Superman is only one guy.
