So this was a summer movie, GI Joe, which was a sequel to a move that came out a few years ago.
Channing Tatum was Duke, and he was the main character. SPOILERS.....
So apparently in the sequel, which stars the Rock, Duke was killed off early in the film, which was supposed to be released in about a month.
In what has to be a parallel to Generations, the test screenings were awful. Part of that was due to the fact that Tatum was killed off early in the film. I guess it was a lot like Doug Masters' fate in Iron Eagle II, or Kirk in Generations.
These guys are big, main characters. Yet they met stupid deaths that did nothing.
But here's the kicker--Paramount pulled the movie, just 5 weeks before its release. In part, to do it in 3D, but also because Tatum has become a bigger star, and they are going to give him a bigger role.
Could this mean Duke is saved?
Maybe.
I just find it amazing that they could be changing the characters' fate now, but didn't do that with Kirk, when the test results were horrible too.
