What do you guys think? It could be a good idea, particularly if it canonizes the notion that the timeline survived post-Romulus. Maybe we could even find out what's going on on DS9 (brink back Sisko!)? Though curious for Worf to get captaincy and a Federation ship. blastr.com/2012/05/michael-dorn-pitching-wor.php

I really like this idea. Direct-to-Video marketing is great for fans and great for the film budget. Michael Dorn seems like a smart guy and I wish him luck with this. He can count me in.

Anything that establishes that the original universe remains intact and wasn't in fact annihilated by the events in ST09 I'm pretty much for; it might also open up some interesting marketing prospects for CBS/Paramount. Think about it --if they spend two-and-a-half to five million dollars on a direct-to-DVD release, which is in itself a lot of money as a budget for that kind of a project, then what would their return ultimately be from sales and rentals on such a release? Even as a test project, it would interesting to see what it yields in terms of profits, although I think what gives these studios serious reservations about projects like this is the kinds of losses they fear they would sustain as a result of pirating. The "Stargate" franchise tried direct-to-DVD movies with their shows, and the results were poor from what I understand, which is why it failed for them.

I would do an animated movie based on Shatner's books as well. I wouldn't expect this to be very good. He actually went to Berman for advice.

I know, that caught my attention as well, but Dorn is writing the script. He may simply be looking to Berman for technical advice and perhaps his endorsing the project, which in Dorn's mind may also bolster his chances of getting it produced.

Yeah, but what does Dorn know about writing sci-fi scripts?
I'd be more impressed and interested if say, the Reeves-Stevenses were involved.

Yeah, but what does Dorn know about writing sci-fi scripts? Well, he had enough experience working with them, and not just on TNG and DS9 and the later Trek movies, but also on shows like "The Outer Limits". He obviously has a story in mind and a sense of where Worf is at and what he's up to in the MT universe, so who knows, he might end up surprising everyone by putting together a decent script. And if he needs help getting it done, we'll probably hear about that at some point if this proposed project starts to actually move anywhere.I'd be more impressed and interested if say, the Reeves-Stevenses were involved. I was never a Worf fan, especially at the beginning when TNG first started. I felt he was a stupid variation of the Klingons we remembered from the original series. In fact I used to call him Mr. Wuff early on because he was a lot like a dog with little in the way of an actual personality, and it was clear the writers weren't sure how to write a Klingon character, particularly one that was allied and working with Starfleet and the Federation. But I see this as a nothing to lose project, whether it gets off the ground or not. If it turns out poorly, people will probably just shrug it off as a Worf story and not much else, unless Dorn does something to significantly screw with the MT universe and one of the characters or alien races in it. But I'm not going to worry about it in the meantime, as it may not even get off the ground. In fact odds are it probably won't.

It sounds a lot like Dorn is a modern day Takei.
