I knew it --I said when they decided to do the prequel season "Gods of the Arena" to accommodate Andy Whitfield's recuperation that this amounted to a lost season of the show moving forward instead of backward. This show is extremely popular for STARZ, and what do they do? Cancel it.

Season 3, titled "War of the Damned," will arrive on Friday, Jan. 25. The final season will find Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) ascendant, having racked up some major victories against a thin Roman army and seen the rebellion grow to include some 30,000 former slaves. The rebels' success, however, also brings a new Roman commander, Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells) into the picture, and he will prove to be a more formidable foe.
