Over at Blastr:Why Jonathan Frakes wasn't having fun in the early seasons of TNG It's been 25 years since Jonathan Frakes first stepped onto the bridge of the Enterprise and became a geek icon in Star Trek: The Next Generation. But though he looks back fondly on his time with the rest of the TNG crew now, Frakes said the early years of the show weren't much fun for him, for one very specific reason. Good grief. A geek icon? Even if he was allegedly the taciturn type, that didn't make him a geek! Did they mix him up with Wesley Crusher??
I would have said a "stud icon." He was very much a ladies man on the show.
I suspected Gene Roddenberry saw himself in Frakes as Riker. IMO, they bore a strong resemblance to each other at the same age.
