Now that Abrams is signed on for Star Wars, does anyone think this will make an impact on the marketing campaign for Into Darkness as the release date gets closer? Will Abrams want to take advantage of the fact he's majorly involved in both franchises to boost awareness of STID? Or would Paramount veto such a move, preferring he stay focused on Star Trek until he actually starts work on Star Wars?

Well, the news is already out there, so there's not much Paramount can do about it. I don't think this hurts STID at all, but it may overshadow it a bit.
I think the complete lack of knowledge of the storyline is hurting things more.
