Was anyone here ever into this show? I've been seeing it pointed to in the press since I was a kid, and while it probably aired here at some point, I don't recall ever having had the opportunity to watch it, although I probably wouldn't have anyway given that it looks so silly.

I loved the original Thunderbirds and several other Supermarionation shows. It was pretty sophisticated in some ways for the time. Pretty heavy plots for what was essentially a kid's show. I hate CGI, but I will probably watch an episode of the new show. I will most likely hate it. ;D

In fact, I've said repeatedly through the years that if they were to make a new "Star Trek" Animated series that the only way I would be interested is if it were done using CGI. I have no interest in looking at Cartoon Trek.

I suppose "hate" is too strong a term. When CGI is used well it is fairly impressive and economical. But when it's used strictly for economy, it's usually badly done and unimpressive. The more CGI in a production the lower the budget, hence the quality of the images are usually poor. As far as Thunderbirds goes, I would welcome a mixture of the old school Supermarionation and CGI. When old techniques and new ones are blended, the result is usually a better product. A great example of this is the 2006 silent film version of Call of Cthulhu.
