So netflix currently has the last 2 TNG movies, and I was able to watch Insurrection for the first time since I saw it in the theater.
I was curious if maybe my disgust over the failure to bring back Kirk made the move seem worse than it was, so I watched it again.
The movie was actually WORSE than I remembered.
The first half of the movie was unbearable. From Picard singing (one of the only things I remembered) to Worf having a zit (which I had forgotten about) to Riker shaving his beard and playing with a joystick, it was just hard to watch.
I've had less trouble watching TMP or ST5.
The second half of the movie was a little bit better, but overall, this movie was absolutely horrid.
Should be interesting when I watch Nemesis again.

Should be interesting when I watch Nemesis again. I think "Nemesis" was more enjoyable, especially thanks to the climactic battle also featured in it, but it too has some egregious writing in it that's hard to take in places. However, I think it's more bearable overall than "Insurrection".

Thought of the day--
Why wouldn't Geordi stay cured?
His eyes were healed, not just de-aged. There is no logical reason they would revert back to blindness.

You are correct, Sir. Insurrection is horrid. It's so horrible I have no idea how I got through it. I can't think of one positive thing to say about it. Nemesis on the other hand gets a bad rap. I am actually quite fond of it.

Nemesis on the other hand gets a bad rap. I am actually quite fond of it. Oh God --that movie had some serious problems too, but there's enough action in it, choreographed well enough to make it 'stomachable'. However, Nemesis also deserved a lot of the criticism that was heaped upon it after it hit theaters.

Actually I thought Insurrection was one of the better NextGen movies. I don't understand how you all thought it was so horrid. For example I loved seeing Will and Deanna back together.

To me it was worse than Star Trek 5. It was painful. Between Worf's zit, and Data and Picard singing, it was horrid.
You could have had Riker and Troi back together in a better movie.
I always say that given the fact that DS9 was doing the Dominion War, that movie should have focused on the Dominion War.
That war was DS9's to end, but to do a movie where the Enterprise scores a major turning point victory for the Federation would have been a good idea. For example, DS9 once established that Betazed fell to the Dominion.
Ok. How about a movie where the Enterprise leads a battle that frees Betazed?
Now you have a war story, the Enterprise kicking ass, and something personal for Troi that could lead to getting back with Riker.

Well I think space battles are boring. I didn't watch Star Trek for the space battles! I watched it for the human elements. Picard distracting Data by singing "A British Tar" was a perfect example of that, for me at least.
About the only thing about I didn't like was the fact that only the bridge crew was allowed to join the "insurrection". I understand from a production pov why they had to do that, but it gives you the impression that the other 500 odd crewmen were just extras!
