Remember when TAS came out on DVD and I refused to by it because of the price? I said $40 was a ripoff for any season DVD, let alone a 22 half hour episode cartoon. Anyway, patience wins the day and I got it on Amazon.com for $18.99.

Anyway, patience wins the day and I got it on Amazon.com for $18.99. I've only watched about four or five episodes since I bought the set at the initial price when it was first released. I just can't deal with it frankly.
On a somewhat related note, however --I've got you all beat with respect to the remastered Standard DVD Sets of the original series; I got all three seasons for $99 from Best Buy a while back (as some may recall from the R&S board), and they're so crisp, pristine and clear, it really was worth the price without having to wait for the Blu-ray releases.
Hell, I don't have a Blu-ray Player anyway, nor an HD TV, which I'm in absolutely no rush to buy either.

That's a good deal. It's about what I paid for the used versions, and you got the cases.

Hey, did you ever Print those DVD pamphlets that I sent you in Color? All you needed was a few inexpensive cases that you can buy anywhere, and you'd have been no worse off pretty much than the rest of us who already had the original DVD Season Sets.

I don't think I've seen that since it's first run. I remember that it wasn't considered canon, but how does it look and feel today?

I think it should be considered canon, though as a cartoon, the animation is terrible. I wish Star Trek would have a cartoon today based on Kirk and crew.

I wish Star Trek would have a cartoon today based on Kirk and crew. I agree. I wouldn't mind seeing a real well done CGI cartoon. Actually, I know they would never re-invest in this, because admittedly it's a bit far-fetched, but I think it would be cool if they re-did those old episodes, using the old voice tracks, with new animation. Like I said, I'm not real well familiar with those old cartoons, but I've heard people say that the stories were much better than the animation. I think they would sell well as direct to dvd /bluray discs.....

If they could get something on the quality of Justice League/Superman/Batman TAS, it would have the potential to be the best Star Trek ever done.
And yes, the stories were far better than the animation.
With an animated series, the sky's the limit. They could incorporate the new movie, they could use the original actors as the voices, or not, they could involve multi-series crossovers, and they could just return to good old fashioned Trek stories.
