Yesterday, Proboard was supposed to finish upgrading all boards to version 5, which is a radical change from prior versions. Even the log-in page is different.
This board looks the same to me. So does my Monk board.
Has anyone noticed changes on other boards? Thanks.

As of yesterday, there's been a change to my Monk Proboard. It looks exactly the same, except for one thing.
There are lots of ads! With every post, every click, a new ad pops up. Even if I stay on one page, the ads change. There are at least three ads to a page.
I don't see ANY ads on this Proboard.

There's an ad at the very bottom of the screen, but hey, knock on wood.

I don't see ANY ads on this Proboard. The Ads have hit this forum now too. So that was the big Proboards Upgrade --more goddamn ads in everybody's face. Don't you get SICK of all the commercialization in this friggin' society? Between all that garbage and the way this country is literally going to Hell, it's enough to make me wish I could find a nice picturesque private little island in the middle of nowhere someplace to live by myself. Honest to God.

So they finally redesigned everything.
Took long enough.

So they finally redesigned everything. Took long enough. Indeed, they did. So far I'm not very impressed.

I'm not impressed either.
My Monk board was changed last night. All the smileys I had uploaded over the years -- which the members really enjoyed using -- are gone. Gone also are all the background images, colors, and stuff I had done to personalize the board. Our avatars didn't show up at first, but they are now. Even the birth dates on the calendar are gone. I didn't think it would be this bad.
I did a search, and there is no official way to upload smileys. There is a very bothersome work-around by using the offensive words section, deleting the words, and putting in smileys.
Ack.

So they finally redesigned everything. Took long enough. Indeed, they did. So far I'm not very impressed. Well, you can see a lot more than just the last ten posts when you click on 'View Recent Posts'. That's one benefit, but you can't see the most recent thread and who posted to it on the Home Page for each Section; you can't just click 'Reply' rather than 'Quote' to respond to a message; the Font tweaks are also gone when you're composing a message, so there are a number of drawbacks here I'm wondering if they intend to address. Otherwise, stylistically it looks a bit more sleek and sophisticated, but in terms of practical usage, it isn't in actuality. But if it weren't for the fact that you can see more messages under 'Recent Posts', I never would have realized that the last word in a message I posted to TK under the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles topic actually reads "conciliation" rather than "consolation", the latter of which being what was intended there.

You're right, just the first 10 posts were displayed with the old version. But that was easily changed. On my Monk board, I once changed the number to 200 to find something I was looking for. The list was quickly generated, and I found what I needed, so it wasn't like we were limited to 10.
Change is always hard, but in this instance, I feel like we lost more than we gained. On my board, I wouldn't be surprised if the posters decide it's too much trouble to learn something new, and stop using the board.
