RIP Richard Matheson. Over the decades, I've enjoyed a lot of his work.
He wrote and/or contributed to some great Western TV shows, like Have Gun Will Travel, Wanted Dead or Alive (Steve McQueen), and Cheyenne.
He wrote the screenplays for the Edgar Allen Poe classics, The Pit and the Pendulum, and The Fall of the House of Usher, both starring Vincent Price.
He wrote several scripts for The Twilight Zone, including Nightmare at 20,000 feet with William Shatner, and Little Girl Lost, about a child who fell through her bedroom wall into the 4th dimension, a favorite of mine.
Several of his books, such as Hell House and Stir of Echoes became movies for which he wrote the screenplays. His novel, I Am Legend, was made into a movie three times. One was titled The Omega Man which starred Charlton Heston. It's another favorite of mine.

You forgot to mention he wrote The Enemy Within--the classic TOS episode. I didn't forget to mention it. I figured we all knew that.

I was going to post this if Starfury hadn't. Richard Matheson is one of my favorite authors and he had a great influence on me as I grew up. After watching Vincent Price's Last Man on Earth I went to the library and devoured I Am Legend. My best friend and I used to plan how to survive if the events in the novel actually happened. I used to re-read the book every year. I lost count but I have easily read the novel 10 or 12 times. So I'm sure it's not surprising that I love his TV and other film work. He wrote the screenplays for the first two Night Stalker TV Films and the pilot for the series, to say nothing of his enormous contributions to Twilight Zone and Trek. Thanks, Mr. Matheson, for the years of enjoyment you brought me and countless others. Rest In Peace.

Yeah, Matheson was quite a piece of work and talent. I've always been an admirer of his talent and all the work he produced. He was one of the greats, the likes of which we'll never see again. :C
