The group that writes the new ST movies made Cowboys & Aliens.
From the ads, I had no interest in it. Also, I no longer like Harrison Ford (sorry, I just see an old geezer actor on the screen, not the role he's playing). When I rented the Netflix DVD, my expectations were very low.
To my surprise, I enjoyed it quite a bit, right up until the last scene (the hero rides away) which I found typical, but unlikely in this situation.

I still have to see this movie. It tanked at the box office, but it may not have deserved that.

I still have to see this movie. It tanked at the box office, but it may not have deserved that. I saw this movie at the theater in its first week of release. I enjoyed it and have no idea why it tanked. It was very entertaining and would have made a perfectly good straight Western if the Alien aspect had never entered the story.

Saw it yesterday for the first time. Not terrible, but I can see why it tanked. The premise was interesting, but the movie itself was a little on the boring side. That could also be because I watched the extended edition, and maybe some of the boring parts were cut out.
It could have been better. Plus, the advertising wasn't as good as it could have been.
