It looks like the cast was announced yesterday, and yes, Luke, Han, and Leia will be back. So will Chewbacca, R2D2, and C3PO.
It's interesting that these droids were really built to last so long. R2D2 and C3P0 would be 70 years old or so?

It looks like the cast was announced yesterday, and yes, Luke, Han, and Leia will be back. So will Chewbacca, R2D2, and C3PO. It's interesting that these droids were really built to last so long. R2D2 and C3P0 would be 70 years old or so? That was pretty much a foregone conclusion anyway. But I haven't read any of the casting announcements because I'm going to try (try!) to avoid spoilers of any sort for the new Star Wars. It'll be like when Episode I came out and all we had was a trailer and Pepsi cans to tease us, back in the internet's adolescence. As to the droids, I suppose regular maintenance helps a great deal. 3PO's had his plating changed at least twice. Assuming Luke to be about 20 in ANH, 3PO would be about 37 by the time of Jedi (assuming he was first constructed shortly before Phantom Menace). So yeah, he could be as much as 70 by episode 7. But then, it's not all that different from a family having the same nanny or butler or something for like fifty years. Plus, these droids were built in an era when people were just throwing money away on droids (like all those battle droids built to last like 3 seconds before being slashed up by sabers). And astrodroids like R2 were probably built to survive a beating in battle. By the time of the Rebellion, you'd want to be able to fix and salvage as much as you can when supplies are tight. Hey, Cubans are still driving cars from the 50s, aren't they? -TK

Casting announcements to me are not spoilers by my definition.
Spock is in the movie--NOT a spoiler.
Spock dies---SPOILER
Spock comes back--SPOILER
I'm very interested as to where they go no doubt. As long as we don't see Leia in a bikini, I think they can do a lot.

So now I guess we have the directors for the next three movies: Spinoff 2016: Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) Spinoff 2017: Josh Trank (Fantastic Four Episode VIII: Rian Johnson (Looper, Breaking Bad)
EDIT: Looks like Johnson's doing Episode IX, too.

Apparently Episode VIII will actually be 2017, so I guess the 2nd spinoff will be 2018.
