Good article. I totally get why people would be against Orci. I guess I just need to get an idea of what the storyline wants to be, and if he's interested in actually treating the 50th anniversary with the reverence it deserves.
With the much broader fan base and higher budgets, Star Trek should blow Doctor Who out of the water. If it doesn't, that's a complete waste.

My worry is putting the franchise in the hands of someone who isn't a big Trek fan or wants to put his own spin on it.

My worry is putting the franchise in the hands of someone who isn't a big Trek fan or wants to put his own spin on it. As opposed to the Abrams-Orci-Kurtzman spin that has already been put on it? They've made a mockery of things, and the way they handled Khan especially was disgraceful.
It's a little late to be worrying about that if you ask me, as it's already too late IMO.

We know from the Berman era that it CAN get worse.
