In anticipation of Days of Future Past this week, I've been watching a different X-Men movie every day. So I recently watched X2 again. And I never really noticed until today that the ending seems a direct homage to TWOK. Not just with a character dying and all that. But using the voice-over at the end is very TWOK. On top of that though, I noticed that the music score seems to be very much emulating the score for TWOK in its final moments, including the little blip to the credits moment. I wonder how much of this was intentional.
I remember when X2 came out thinking it was similar structurally to Star Trek: Nemesis. And I still see some of that. But that TWOK homage seemed a lot more obvious to me this time.

I thought the movie overall was very good, though I don't get why they gave Kitty Pride a power she doesn't have.
In the comics, it was another mutant that had that ability, and Kitty was the time traveler, not Wolverine.
Had they done that, they could have had a bigger role for Ellen Page, though either way, they should have had a different mutant with Wolverine.
Kitty could have kicked butt fighting Sentinels just fine to give her something to do.
It's kind of like when they had Superman teleporting and pulling seran wrap out of his suit.

I totally understand why they did it the way they did in the movie, since Wolverine was actually around back then. The movie Kitty Pryde is a lot younger. I also thought it was odd for her to suddenly have this ability, but it was I guess a way to have her involved in the time travel as a nod to the comic. I liked the movie, and the "Back to the Future" ending, though I have a lot of lingering questions about the movie continuity that will now probably never be answered. While I'm glad certain characters are no longer dead, other bits of the continuity bother me. Particularly that the "First Class" stuff is supposed to be their past, even though it's very different from previous established continuity from the first three movies. The only way it possibly makes sense in the movie universe is if there has already been time travel once before that messed up the past between "The Last Stand" and "The Wolverine". I had hoped that maybe it would have something to do with alternate timelines or something to tie it all together. While it's nice to start now with a sort of clean slate, there are still a number of things bugging me. I won't list them all here, but you can read them here at your leisure: Days of Future Questions-TK

I had no problem with Wolverine being the time traveler either, since that's what was needed to get the First Class cast involved.
Kitty could have been involved other ways without a major changes to the script. All she really did was wave her hands. Hell, we could have done that.
I think the point of this movie was to give them a bit of a reset with future movies.

Just saw Apocalypse, and there's a little Star Trek nod in there. Just like Singer threw in a clip from "The Naked Time" in Days of Future Past, in this movie we see footage from "Who Mourns For Adonais". Appropriate, given some of themes of the movie. Not nearly as good as the last movie, but I found that bit amusing

I don't know any of the movies, chapter and verse, but I like James McAvoy as Charles.
Btw, I stopped using teal. It's hard on my very old eyes.
