Are any of you watching "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" now that it's airing, edited down, on the SyFy Channel if you hadn't been able to watch it previously because you didn't have STARZ?

So I guess we don't have anyone here interested in checking out "Spartacus" even though it's now airing on basic cable?
That's a pity.
Last night they re-aired the first two episodes back-to-back and I was watching some of it, as I did last week, just to see how well they edited the show given that it's not airing on premium cable, and they appear to have done a pretty good job, all things considered. Most of the gore remains intact, and it's really just the nudity and foul language that they've cut down on. And even with respect to the nudity, they've opted to keep some of it in, which I find a little surprising. Same goes for some of the profanity, as the words "piss and shit" remain in there. During one of the combat sequences though, one of the barbarians is shown yelling out as they fight, "I'll find your women! I'll find them all!", and the sound, and even the video, was fairly seamless, whereas in the original uncut version, he yells out, "I'll fuck your women! I'll fuck them all!!" But if you can deal with modifiers like that, the show remains mostly intact, and the story is still there to follow.
If anyone does decide to give the show a look, keep in mind that their first season, particularly their early episodes, are a little rough in terms of style and special effects. This was STARZ first venture into a fantasy show of this type I believe, and they were finding their footing. But it improves as they move forward.
It's a good series. You might not see yourself getting into it at first, but it will grow on you and get you more interested as the story arc develops.
Give it a chance and check it out.

Yes, it is I, Darth Timon, returning to say hello after a long absence! (Been busy with a few things, but I am now trying to get back to here). On the subject of Spartacus, I haven't seen the edited-down version, and honestly, I am not sure I'd want to. Part of the reason I enjoyed the show was the shameless, indulgent nudity, violence and language. It was a piece of decadent fun, that managed to thrill on several levels (whilst at times, also punching you in the gut - the finale of Vengeance springs to mind). I also find the first season to be quite poignant, what with the loss of Andy Whitfield. I feel Liam did a good job as his successor, but I would have loved to have seen Andy continuing in the role that he made his own.

FYI, we haven't gone back to Directv, which we like the best, because to get the Syfy Channel, we'd have to buy Directv's most expensive package. To me, that means it's not on basic cable.
