Snowpiercer is playing in a limited release right now. It'll probably be hard to see for many people, but I got a chance to go today and it was pretty good. The Weinsteins wanted to cut 20 minutes of it before releasing it here, and when they were fought on that they agreed to a limited release to test the waters. If the movie's playing near you and you have the chance to see it, I'd recommend it. It's another dystopian future movie, but done so much better than all those other ones in that it's contained to a train. Chris Evans is great. The whole cast is great. I do have some problems with it, which soured the film for me a bit in the hours after I saw it, but it's still a solid movie that's not just mindless action. Basic premise is that all that survives of humanity is trapped on a luxury train line with a clear division between first class and the rabble. How did it come to be this way? People were so scared of global warming that they decided "we have to do something about this now!" So they release a coolant into the atmosphere to save the world from global warming... which ends up freezing the earth and killing everyone. That premise alone makes me laugh and laugh every time. Anyway, if you've got two hours and a theater near you screening the movie, it's worth seeing. Certainly it can promote discussion. Definitely try to catch on DVD or On Demand or whatever as soon as it becomes available. -TK

Thanks for the heads up. The closest theater is four hours away, so it's on my Netflix list.

I really want to see this. I have been reading about it for a while. I may have to wait until it hits Netflix or Redbox.
