Did anyone else catch the premiere of Agent Carter? I loved it. It was so much better than "Agents of SHIELD" (which has improved, but still). Haley Atwell is completely engaging, the period setting is wonderful with its use of music and little gags about radio and such. The humor worked pretty nicely too, often having the quippy banter of '40s comedies.
I loved having an actual Jarvis. It's a nice nod to the character in the comics while still making complete sense in the Marvel Universe.
If I have a complaint, it is only that the storyline involving one of Howard Stark's ideas being stolen by nefarious people seems to just be the plot of Iron Man. I'm also a little wary of Howard Stark being a guy who realizes when an idea goes too far. So I guess it was just Tony who had no qualms about the weapons he built?
Still loving the little continuity nods, like Ivan Vanko turning up.
This series succeeds both as a sequel and a prequel, and that is a rare thing. I find it totally engaging and I look forward to next week.

I must have missed the Ivan Vanko thing. I did like Agent Carter. I wonder how much they are going to make it comic bookish.

Good news for fans of the show. Agent Carter has been renewed for a second season. I was glad to hear it. I liked the show a lot. Though I heard a rumor that they may want to do a season that follows Sharon Carter (Agent 13) instead of Peggy Carter. Hope that's not the case; I liked the period piece. I'll watch it either way. -TK

What's interesting is that Agents of Shield showed a guy from WWII in Hydra age normally, and somehow find a way using one of the Inhumans to make himself young again. I forget the details.
I think it would be awesome to give Peggy a similar reprieve.

Actually it IS. In Agents of Shield, the character that was made younger, a man named Whitehall, DID age naturally.
I forget the details, but he used his evil ways to make himself young again.
The technology exists.

The technology exists. He used Skye's mother --stripped her of her organs and learned whatever he could from her blood and chemistry, but that's all we know about it, as they were otherwise pretty vague. But "Agent Carter" is returning for another season, so Hayley Atwell will be busy working on that series in the coming months.

True, Haley Atwell will be busy with the series, but by making her young again, you could actually also set the series in the present day.
Things just have to happen after the events of Winter Soldier.
Interesting about the spinoff. I'm assuming you are talking about the one with Adrian Palicki.
If so, I'm glad. I didn't really like that idea.

I didn't really like that idea. Yes, Whitehall did it, but by using Skye's Mom as I said, so it was a rather isolated case. We don't know what he did or what he took from her to rejuvenate himself. And I think Carter is fine working from her own era. I don't think I'd want to see her de-aged for the present. And yes, that was the spinoff I was referring to, but with ABC having put the brakes on that one, I don't think they're looking to add yet another Marvel Universe show into the mix at this juncture. I got the sense that they're rethinking their whole Marvel programming slate. 'Agents Of SHIELD' could easily have been canceled this week, along with 'Agent Carter'. It's almost a miracle that both shows were renewed given how they have both performed in the ratings. So I don't expect to see Emily Van Camp's character anywhere but one of the coming movies ...at least for the time being anyway.

I have a feeling the plan is to use Agents of SHIELD as build-up to the Inhumans movie (which would give the series a 5 year run). It did feel a bit too soon for a spin-off. What with the 20+ movies, 2 series, 5 shorts, and 4 Netflix series by the end of Phase 3, it was becoming too much. -TK

I want to know where the One-Shot fits into the timeline the TV series is creating. Looking forward to season 2. -TK
