Anyone reading these things? Just read the first one, which is part one of a retelling of Where No Man Has Gone Before, in the new timeline.
It's going to be fun to read how they do it without repeating what we already know.
Plenty of differences.

Ok--just read part II.
Honestly, I thought the original story was better. More interesting. And though I didn't like the ending and how Kirk dealt with Mitchell, one thing I did like was the characterization. I felt like I was reading a story closer to the real TOS. Hope the movie can pick up on that.

I've kept an eye on them, but haven't read them.
I'm intrigued by the prospect of Opertaion: Annihilate! which I'm not sure is out yet.
Intrigued, because one, since the Kirks were earthbound by the death of George, why would Sam be 'out there' and two, do they keep the bad science behind the television episode (Ultraviolet light will blind you as well, if not worse, than the visible spectrum).

I've gone through the Where No Man and Galileo Seven stories. Both were good, and I would say Galileo Seven was better. Both had differences, but despite that, and despite my belief that the story as told on TV was better, the most important part was that Kirk was Kirk. The characters were done much better than in the movie--more true to form.
I'm hoping we see that in the next movie.

So I just finished reading the 2 part Operation: Annhilate!
This is the first of the three stories where, while nowhere near the detail of the original story, I felt they actually improved upon it a bit.
The story took a very different turn, before ending up in the same spot. I liked it.
