I knew Adam when he was starting out as an entertainment attorney. He once gave me a birthday card that he had signed "live long and prosper," and so of course, that was a thrill for me.
For years, I worked in Century City (Los Angeles; think Die Hard) and Beverly Hills. I often ran into famous people, but I didn't acknowledge them; I respected their privacy. I did the same with Adam and his famous father.

It's always nice when The Shat swings by. I missed this because I had some stupid work thing. -TK

I did walk by Nathan Lane once on the street, but I chose to just go my way and not bother him. (or it was just a lookalike and I've been telling this story for years, but he was in town for a play, so I'm going to believe it was him). -TK

(or it was just a lookalike and I've been telling this story for years, but he was in town for a play, so I'm going to believe it was him). -TK I went to meet a girlfriend in the City once, and as I'm walking down this street alone, the side door to a van that's sitting right in front of a Broadway theater opens, and laying on the floor inside the van is none other than Brian Dennehy. I was the only person on the street and I happened to be passing the van door at the exact moment that it opened. I was stunned. So Dennehy then sits up, slides his legs out the side door, and sits there for a second before going to stand up to get out of the van. Our eyes meet. He looks straight at me and I look directly at him and pause for a moment. I know he knew I recognized him. It was the perfect opportunity for me to say hello and claim I'm a fan of his work. And what do I do? Nothing. I stepped up my pace and just left him alone, thinking he had no desire to be bothered by yet another stranger who wanted to compliment the hell out of him. He looked like he had been napping in the van and just woke up, ready to go in to the theater to work. I'll never forget that moment for as long as I live because of the stillness of everything on the street and there being no one around, and the fact that none other than Mr. Dennehy decided to open that door at that precise moment. He on the other hand would undoubtedly have no recollection of the incident. But I guess that just goes to shown the difference between a big star and a little person like myself. The common folk.

I'm a huge fan of Brian Dennehey. I might have wanted to act nonchalant, but I suspect I might have gasped and briefly smiled.

For the record, the project Adam is working on that prompted him to do this recent AMA has been funded, and it looks as though they'll surpass their stretch goal by their 7pm deadline tonight. /posts/1279755
