Has any anyone been watching Top Shot on the History Channel? Season four began on April 14. Reruns of the season opener can still be seen this week. The host is Colby Donaldson.
I enjoy seeing the various weapons, how to use them, and of course the contests of skill, first as teams, then later as individuals. Last season's weapons included a 50 cal gun, a recurve bow, and trick shots.
I haven't heard what this season will offer, but the elimination event in the first episode was pretty interesting! You may want to give the show a try.

I watched the first two seasons. I think it's a lot of fun, particularly when they get into stuff like throwing knives and longbows that most guys proficient with handguns aren't good at.
I don't have cable anymore (oh how I miss it), and so I have missed the last season. It's one show that I really wish I could watch; it made my sunday nights happy.

I thought for sure if April showed up, he'd have something to say about this show. Maybe not!

I almost wrote about this after the first episode, but decided not to. Now, it's really bothering me.
In episode 1, the shooters fired in a competition. The first winner stood on one line, the loser another. The second winner joined the first winner, the second loser stood with the other loser. And so on, until all 16 people were standing in two lines. The first group turned out to be Red team. The second group, Blue Team.
It seems to me that this is a decidedly unfair way of forming groups. The best shooters ended up on the Red Team, the worst shooters ended up on Blue Team. And that's how the competitions have gone. Red has won all but one.
Does this seem unfair to others, or is it just me?
Granted, so long as Littlejohn is on the Blue Team, I *want* them to lose! He should have gone home the first day.

I agree, that seems a terribly unfair team selection method. They should have alternated.

Last night's episode was a Trick Shot Shoot Off. I thought it was a lot of fun. Here are the shots:
1. From 30 feet, fire the Remington M1911 pistol to drive a bowling pin backward through two others without knocking them down.
2. From 30 feet, fire the M1911 pistol to hit a bowling pin so that it travels diagonally back to knock over one of two other pins.
3. From 75 feet, fire the Volquartsen Ruger 10/22 rifle to hit a bottle opener so that it pops the cap off a soda bottle.
4. From 30 feet, fire the M1911 pistol to hit the bottom bucket in a stack of two, sending the top bucket into the air, then hit the top bucket before it reaches the ground.
5. From 35 feet, fire the 10/22 rifle to hit a gumball sitting on top of a golf tee, without hitting the golf tee.
Those kind of precision shots were fascinating to watch. The Blue team had a fight before going to the field. It didn't perform as well as it might have, probably because of the tension from the fight. The Red team blew the Blue team away. It did so well, their last shooter didn't have to try the rifle shot with the gumballs. I don't think that was fair. I bet the shooter was dying to try, even if his points weren't needed.
Dylan, a favorite of mine, went to elimination. Dylan asked William to oppose him, and that kind of stemmed from the fight earlier in the day. Bad move. Dylan, who usually doesn't lose his cool, and usually is amazingly precise, blew it, while William shot beautifully.
Dylan by trade is a knife maker. He's also a serious weapons historian. It was always great to hear the tidbits he would share about particular weapons on the show. I'm going to miss that.

If you get the History Channel, the season finale of Top Shot airs Tuesday at 7:00 PM, followed by a first-time ever reunion show. Ought to be fun!

I'm always looking to cut expenses, but with handicapped people in the household, TV as entertainment is a real necessity.
The finale was great. I'm so glad Chris Cheng won! From the start, I didn't like Greg Littlejohn, and the finale was between him and Chris. Greg has a real prejudice against competitors who have no military background. As it happens, Chris is an IT professional who loves guns, and he out shot them all!
The reunion was mislabeled, which is too bad, as that sounded like fun. No one from prior seasons appeared. I should watch it again to be sure, but I think the reunion was a clip show. I don't recall seeing anything I hadn't already seen, or hearing anything new. Airing right after the finale, it felt stale even though it was brand new. It was a huge disappointment, since I expected a reunion with people from various seasons, and thought it would be more of a get-together.
I'm under the impression that when people lose Top Shot and "leave," in reality, they're stuck in that vicinity until filming is completely over. If so, the people from this season could have easily been part of a real reunion episode. The "green shirts" were filmed watching the final contest, but during the reunion episode, Colby didn't speak with them, or even the winner. Hopefully for next season, they'll have a real reunion. Maybe you'll have cable by then!

Oh, I assumed that was a special circumstance, since it was an emergency.
I've read stuff online about how bored they get between competitions. It's been especially hard on joggers, because they're not allowed to leave the house. Filming takes 33 days.
I read the comments at imdb.com for this show. In mid-April, Colby twittered that the show hadn't been renewed. He was trying to rally fan support. Yesterday, I searched but didn't find anything about renewal or cancellation. If it is being cancelled, that might explain why the reunion was a clip show.
The ratings have improved each season. I don't understand the rationale behind canceling it, if that happens. I hope not!
