For what it's worth, if I didn't invite someone to this forum, that does NOT mean they are not invited. It just means I either missed them or forgot about them. So feel free to open this up.

No worries. That's the least important thing with these boards. Feel free to be 10000 years old.

1) Thanks for letting me in!
2) Any forum rules we should know about?
3) Will there be seperate folders for the various Star Trek series?

As of now, I think the people from AOL are used to those rules, so I don't see any reason to differ too much from that. I guess we can go free for all for the most part, as long as no one acts like total jerks. If they do, it's not hard to put a stop to it.
As for separate folders for Trek series', I think as long as we're small, there is no call for that. If there are a ton of topics on say, DS9, it's easy to create an area just for that. On AOL, the forum got so small that we were working out of one folder.
It's also different in that we can do more, like post videos and pictures.

Well, you're the Administrator, so who's to say you won't act like a dictator if push comes to shove? I mean, after all, you and I have had a few scrapes in the past over the years, and who's to say it won't happen again at some point should we strongly disagree about something?

So how many Gary Sevens is this forum going to have? 10 registered members, 2 are GarySevens, and the post above is also a Gary Seven.--Crambam ----------- Sorry Crambam, I posted my AOHell comment without logging in. But shouldn't I have been prompted to use a password?

Cram, thanks for setting up a General Comments board. We sure needed it. Also, I like the name of this board (AOL Trek Castoffs).
I have a question similar to Gary's comments. Is there a way to list newest posts first?
Everybody, I tried to get into the AOL boards today (March 31) and couldn't. Is that true for the rest of you? The boards are actually gone? Wow. If so, AOL was actually true to its word!

The new AOL message "boards" --if they can even be called that-- are beginning to pop up over there, and thus far, I'm not exactly thrilled by what I see, although it looks as though they're still trying to iron out all of the technical issues quite frankly, so we'll see. By tonight, if it looks as though it's not an environment any of us like or care to be bothered with, I'll pull out my list of names, which is on my home PC, and will e-mail around my own personal alternative as to where we can move if people want to check it out and consider the possibility of posting there instead. I think it's probably better than here, and it has the advantage of also being a place that we can liven up ourselves, as it hasn't been used all that much through the years.

It does not look like there's a way to get the last posts displayed first, but it takes only a split second to scroll down and read. I guess it doesn't bother me because I'm very used to it. I guess with the AOL boards gone, might as well start actually posting about Trek stuff.

Wow! after getting used to seeing that cool picture of Shatner and Nimoy on the home page, it was uh.....interesting, to see the very not-so-cool duo. Sure hope it's only for April fools day....

I think you really need to use that quote feature.
If you like a picture, download it. I figure it would be worth it to switch it up every so often. Don't worry, those idiots won't be on top for long.

Question: How can you embed links in words? Like if I wanted this to link to the homepage for, say, the Red Sox homepage, how would I go about doing that? If it can't be done, that sucks.

Actually, I think that may be a feature not offered on this site. It is possible to throw a link and have it clickable, but I don't think you can turn that link into words--at least not without knowing a specific code that isn't offered at the click of a button. For example, you can't make www.bringbackkirk.com into "BBK" and click on BBK that automatically links you to bringbackkirk.com. But you can do this: www.bringbackkirk.com

Why is that such a bad thing automatically? They're Upgrading --it could mean that the boards, or some newly revised version of them, will be back.

They're Upgrading --it could mean that the boards, or some newly revised version of them, will be back.If "revised version" means the sort of forum that I happened across on the AOL Autos section -- the "General Discussion" one, to be precise -- I'll pass. I don't need to see pictures of a guy's you-know-what. And the boards have been down for almost 36 hours straight now. If that's not AOL trying to say something, I don't know what is.

I noticed you had the avatar set at 1X1. I don't know why that's a default, but it is. I just changed it to 100x100.
