Do you mean the icon on the left side? Yes--in the profile thing, they want a website address (at least, it looks like it). That would give the whole page of the site, though, and not just one small pic. I know I'm doing this wrong, everyone else figurd it out... Jor-El

Bottom line is, I am hoping now with the screenname issue solved, it will calm down. Plus, there's a hell of a lot of stuff going on in Entertainment, and this board can probably serve as something beyond just Trek, even though Trek will continue to be the centerpiece.

Ok. I will erase that other thread. And ask nicely that this end. Or if you want, create a fighting thread in the real world area and limit the fighting to there. But clearly, this needs to end.

I'll tell you what--if it's cool with all sides, I'll try to clean things up either tonight or tomorrow, erase the fighting, go through the folders and see what's relevant, and we can move forward. I'd like to have Carl sign off on the idea to make it a little easier, though I'll take care of it by tomorrow regardless.

Wahr, hopefully you read Gary's later post where he wrote that he agrees to end this and let Cram edit the threads. I hope you agree, too.

All right. We're going to call a truce, and I'll go through the threads and start deleting. I know there's stuff in the Life on Mars folder and this one. If there's anything in other folders, let me know, and we'll move on.
UPDATE: I think this folder is now clear, but there were a LOT of posts to delete. So I may have missed a few. Go through and if you see any posts that annoy anyone, even if by me, let me know and I'll edit or delete them. On to the Life on Mars folder.

Talk about lame --I know that money and licensing rights was undoubtedly the issue here, but come on ...I'm not a big Galaxy Quest fan, and if they're going to do something like this they might as well appeal to a more targeted fan base by being specific rather than making up a show that never existed.
Click the Link below to see a picture (Why can't we post pictures on these boards? Kinda ironic given that we can post YouTube vids.) CBS milks its Trek affiliation with a sci-fi-themed CSI episodeWallace Langham and Liz Vassey in their not-Trek costumes CBS, part of the corporation that owns the rights to Star Trek, will go where lots of people have gone before with a sci-fi-themed episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation on April 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and you can watch a clip here. In the episode, Hodges (Wallace Langham) and Wendy (Liz Vassey) run into each other at a science fiction convention for one of their favorite classic television shows that is not Star Trek and end up investigating the murder of one of their beloved actors. The clip shows a fantasy sequence in which Hodges imagines himself the captain of a starship that's not the Enterprise—though it has the Enterprise's sound effects and background score—who expresses his feelings for Yeoman Wendy who is not Yeoman Rand, though she shares a similar if not identical hairstyle highlighted by a comparably preposterous hairpiece. Did we mention Battlestar Galactica's Kate Vernon is a guest star? scifiwire.com/2009/04/cbs-milks-its-trek-affili.php

Did CBS forget that they own Star Trek now? They don't have to come up with a make-believe show to keep from being sued.
Hell, even "The Big Bang Theory" had Sheldon decked out as Spock in one episode, complete with pointed ears, blue sciences tunic with the proper insignia, and tricorder. Any time now, I'm expecting one of those Diamond Select command chair replicas to show up in the apartment. The only thing they're squeamish about is onscreen depictions of Marvel characters (they can talk about 'em, but apparently can't show 'em; DC character bits, however, show up all the time).
The only justifiable reason I can think of for CSI getting wishy-washy on this the story angle of one of the stars of this made-up show getting murdered; kinda tough to do that with a blatant Star Trek reference.

Did CBS forget that they own Star Trek now? The producers of CSI may not have wanted to cut the Trek franchise in for any of the royalties that would probably have been called for. The reason has to be something along those lines, or I suspect they would have done the show around the Trek franchise instead.

My God, April, that's a beautiful painting. It's just something I whipped up in Paint Shop Pro a few years back for a contest on TrekBBS, something about doing a Star Trek picture in the style of various artists; I settled on Van Gogh. Basically, it's a combination of a zoomed-in portion of "The Starry Night" and an orbital shot from "Where No Man Has Gone Before". Who knows, I may do this up as a real painting one day...

over on the compuserve board awhile back there was debate regarding whether Kirk was a good captain for constantly beaming down on dangerous missions (yes, that old complaint). It got me thinking that this is a gross oversimplification, and thought it would be fun to go through the series and make a note of every time Kirk leaves the Enterprise and why. When was this an emergency situation initially? When was he part of a second party? And when did it actually result in harm? I don't have time to explore this right now, but I have a feeling the statistics would not support the old complaint that he was always leaving the ship. If anyone out there wants an excuse to watch TOS again...
