I think we're gonna start seeing a lot of sales and discounts on TOS blu-ray for the next few months because of the new movie (which I can't believe comes out next month), and because prices always drop when a fancy new set is coming out. Definitely if money's an issue this is a good deal, but others may want to wait and bite the bullet on the new one coming out that includes the animated series and the films. Which, if it's reasonably priced, might be my sister's birthday present. -TK |

My problem with that Set for myself would be its sheer overall redundancy given that I have all the television episodes on both DVD and Blu-ray, along with the movies. The only thing that would be a new addition in that Set for me would be TAS on Blu-ray, which I don't feel I'll ever need given that the DVD Set that I have of that series is more than sufficient being that it's an animated show. I seriously doubt it would be upscaled significantly if I were to purchase it on Blu-ray and watched the episodes off of those discs instead. But I don't think TOS will drop below its current price. Perhaps I'm wrong, and yeah, it is happening because of the coming new film next month, but if they had any intention of reducing the price any more I think they'd be doing it now. But hey, if you don't have the series and films on Blu-ray, the new complete Set would be a good deal for you, even though it'll still run at least two bills. |
