In many ways, Supergirl is the poster show for how to ruin something good with wokeness.
I could go on and on about it. I only watch it because I really do like the Supergirl character, and pretty much anything to do with Superman.
What is amazing is that the talent to make a good show was there--they just spoiled it with their constant left wing politics.
Rather than right a book, I'll just pick a topic and cover it.
Perfect example--Superman.
Supergirl is the anti Wonder Woman. Where Wonder Woman is written by secure writers, Supergirl is written by writers that believe that for Supergirl to be strong, Superman must be made weak.
His first appearance was awesome. But after that, they decided that Supergirl must be more powerful. They had her beat Superman in every physical activity since. Worse, they had Superman running around like a beta male telling the world how much better she is than he.
It has been awful. I hope the new show will put some balls in the Man of Steel, but that will require completely different writers.

As I mentioned, once it was clear to me how left the show was going, I was out. Then I learned years later that they had to make her sister a lesbian. It figured, but I was glad I was out at that point. What do you mean by the new show? Are they making another Supergirl series from scratch?

I think it's a fair question. Honestly, it's the legacy character thing. If it wasn't Superman related, I'd have dumped the show. But Supergirl has always been a great character, and I liked the show in the beginning. And when the show DOESN'T shove the left wing politics down our throats, it's actually quite good.
The Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline was a fun adventure, even if it wasn't perfect. Yes, making her sister gay hurt the show. Had she been gay at the outset, fine. But the whole coming out storyline was followed by half a season dedicated to her relationship. The person with whom she had a relationship was actually a gay character from the comic, so SHE belonged, but when the storyline usurped Supergirl, that became a problem. There was one episode which had two storylines--Alex and her breakup and Supergirl doing something on Mars. The Supergirl storyline was great. The Alex not so much, but you could have fastforwarded the whole Alex part and it meant nothing.
I don't mind if shows want to get political, but that's a different show. I don't watch Supergirl because of Alex and her relationships.
At this point--it's more about being a completist. It's the last Supergirl season, so I'll see it through.
The Lex Luthor stuff on the show was actually very good. Jon Cryer was fantastic.
The new show is called Superman and Lois, featuring the Superman and Lois from Supergirl.
I'm hoping he will not be such a wimp.

Everything I don't like about Supergirl was highlighted in this week's episode. They got mega-political again. If the show wasn't ending, I'd be about done with it. What a shame since it was so good in the beginning.
This week, Kara got on the wrong side of gentrification, as she decided to ruin the lives of a neighborhood that an Amazon type company was going to make incredible by moving in.
Somehow, she managed to sway all the politicians because so some prison inmate could have a home in the same building, ignoring the idea that the money brought in by this company would allow the city to push that affordable housing to another building. In fact, the idea of moving that affordable housing to another building was not even brought up in an attempt to make Kara as big of an idiot as AOC.
I ended up having to fastforward the nonsense.

Yeah, that's why I bailed on this show in season 2. Melissa Benoist is lovely, but it's not enough to justify the bad woke writing.
