Anybody else here have Disney+? I have been watching Wandavision and it's pretty good so far. I like it a lot. The production design, emulating familiar sitcom styles of the past decades, is very well done. I have a few quibbles, but I'm appreciating the tone so far. Though I personally think this show would have been better served on network TV. Since at least the first three episodes very consciously emulate network sitcoms, it feels wrong as a streaming series. To me, they could totally have aired these on ABC while simultaneously making them available on Disney+. If anything, that might drive viewers to the platform. As it is they hype it heavily on ABC. Why not just air it there?
The jokey sitcom writing of the series even got a genuine laugh out of me once (something about a man saying, "We don't break bread with Bolsheviks" is just hilarious).
anyway, I recommend the series for any Marvel fans, especially those with nostalgia for old wacky sitcoms.

I've been watching this too and the whole show is a total mystery. I like creative writing and I do see that here.
There are advantages to being off Network TV, including no commercials.
Clearly we have a major mystery. I don't remember exactly where we left Wanda off in Endgame. Last I remember, she was kicking ass in the final battle. Losing Vision certainly sucked, but I didn't see a mental instability with her, yet clearly, she had formed an alternate reality.
Spoilers....
Clearly, this alternate reality has limits. We learn this week that the real world still exists. We don't know much else.

Episode 4 spoilers.
So this episode changed the entire tone of the series. It was nice after the 3 setup episodes to see how this connects to the Marvel universe. VERY good episode. Total game changer.

I liked episode 4, though I could personally have gone several more sitcom episodes before dropping this info dump. Also not totally onboard with the time differential. But it was nice to see recurring characters again and get a wider view of the MCU right now.

What is interesting is that this episode takes place in the year 2023. I wouldn't be so sure we are done with the sitcom episodes. I could see an 80s sitcom episode easily. But now that we have had some info, I would think we would get a mixture of sitcoms and serious.
Elizabeth Olsen teased that there may be a Luke Skywalker level cameo.
Some fans are speculating, and this is speculation, not a known spoiler, that it could be a chance to bring in Magneto. I don't know, but that WOULD be an awesome way to introduce the character. Or it could be Quicksilver, saved somehow. Or it could just be another Avenger.

It could be anything no doubt. That version could set the stage for their multiverse.

Wandavision was very good. I enjoyed the show and it was well written and well done, but I do have a pretty big gripe with the finale. SPOILER....
When your stars promise something big and the show doesn't deliver, it takes away. Elizabeth Olsen hyped up a "Luke Skywalker level cameo." When Evan Peters showed up, they said that he was not that cameo.
So the finale came and went, and there was nothing of the sort. So now, fandom is going to be talking about how they didn't deliver.
They are trying to say that White Vision was the cameo, but that's beyond stupid.
Had they not said anything, people wouldn't have had that expectation and now, thanks to their own false advertising, the finale has a little backlash.
That said, it was a decently resolved storyline and I look forward to the next round.

Olsen NEVER SAID that bit about “a Luke Skywalker level cameo”. That was the media lying for clicks. Just like how people still believe Mike Pence wants to electrocute gay people even though he said nothing of the sort. Bettany also NEVER said “cameo”. He said “an actor”. He was making a joke and everyone interpreted it wrong. Our media have shown again and again they can’t be trusted.

"Now, according to Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda), it’s the MCU’s turn to treat fans to a surprising cameo on WandaVision. Speaking recently to TV Line, Olsen was asked whether there was anything similar to The Mandalorian‘s cameo in store. “Yes,” she said, followed by an ominous-sounding, “I’m really excited.” Talk about playing it coy. At least she didn’t spoil anything."
If you're asked the question of whether there is a similar cameo to Luke Skywalker, and you say "yes," that's no different than uttering the actual words.
I feel they made some promises that they didn't deliver. Plus, if they knew this wasn't true, they should have said so.

So I just rewatched the show as prep for Doctor Strange 2, and I can't over how well done it was. The acting was award worthy, and the writing was hyper-intelligent. Not one word of it was woke, but it still featured women and people of color as the torch bearers of the show. Terrific work.

Not one word of it was woke, but it still featured women and people of color as the torch bearers of the show. Terrific work. I'll disagree that "not one word of it" is woke. I think there are elements at play (if minor) here and there. But it was good. I do think it fizzles out a little, that Doctor Strange should have been in it (apparently he was supposed to be responsible for the commercials as a way to communicate with Wanda; now they just sort of sit there unexplained). I think they wasted too much time trying to set up the next Captain Marvel instead of focusing on Wanda, and COVID seemed to affect the wrap up of Darcy's story. I don't think the Vision wrap up was all that satisfactory either. A shame there ended up being so much time between WandaVision and Doctor Strange. Disney should put out a home video release, maybe bundled with Doctor Strange. WandaVision remains the best of the new Disney+ series. I rather disliked Loki (made no real sense to me), and Winter Soldier was too woke. Moon Knight has been okay, but is too short. Hawkeye was a lot of fun though!

Moon Knight to me was just boring. Too long to get to the point and the writers seemed more concerned about doing something different than doing something good.
