It's more than a little frustrating that so many streaming services exist. It isn't even a matter of the dollars as it is the principle.
There are some shows that look interesting here, but I'm not going to bother. Maybe I will pay for one month a year and binge.

It's more than a little frustrating that so many streaming services exist. It isn't even a matter of the dollars as it is the principle. There are some shows that look interesting here, but I'm not going to bother. Maybe I will pay for one month a year and binge. Well, this is the problem I have with "Cobra Kai." YouTube basically shut down their production end and stopped trying to compete with other streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu, and this show was one of the few they kept in the pipeline because it turned out to be so successful. I remember the "Karate Kid" films like most people here probably, and they were okay, and the idea of creating a series that is a sequel to them so many years after the fact is a little interesting to me. So even though I might enjoy this show, I'm not into the original films this was drawn from so much as to warrant my paying twelve bucks a month, or wherever they're at now, for basically this one show. I just can't justify it in my head. Now, with "Strange New Worlds" I have a real dilemma. I have basically sidestepped STD on CBS All Access because it's a show made for the kids of today, with all the typical left-wing crappola they lard these shows up with now, and so I refuse to watch it. With SNW, however, I'm kind of caught between a rock and a hard place because I like Anson Mount (watched him all the way through "Hell On Wheels"), and I liked him as Pike. At the same time, however, this show will be produced by the same people, and they'll no doubt stick in all sorts of woke garbage that I'm not interested in even though the Pike storyline in STD seemed mostly free of that, but it played out in STD, so I had to sit there and watch all the woke nonsense in that series just the same. Also, as some of you may know from a couple of my posts from the last few days, I'm fed up with the totalitarian left, and one place they're ultra-present is in Hollywood, and I have to ask myself if I really want to help make richer a bunch of people that can't stand me and put me and my fellow countrymen down in the worst possible ways at almost every opportunity where they perceive to be an opening. So someone convince me. Why should I pay to see "Strange New Worlds"?

Cobra Kai is now on Netflix. It's no longer a Youtube production, and what I did with Youtube was sign up for the free month and binge.
I will say this--Cobra Kai may be the best sequel series I have ever seen. It's not easy to do a remake/continuation and get it right. There are only a handful. TNG is one, DS9, Fuller House, Dallas TNT are all examples where they nailed it. I think Cobra Kai is up there with all of them. Netflix has more content than just Cobra Kai.
I've also recently got into The Ranch, starring Ashton Kutcher and Sam Elliot. VERY good show, and a rare show where the main characters are conservative.
Netflix is worth it right now.
It has enough content that will keep you busy.
I can't convince you to pay to see Strange New Worlds because I don't know if it's good at this point.

Netflix made the Obamas rich, and it looks as though they allowed themselves to be used just as a means of making them rich. Also, there was a big flap a few months back about a lot of people canceling their accounts with them because of a movie called 'Cuties,' which you've probably heard about, so they're on my S list still.

I didn't watch that movie. Nor did I watch the Obama stuff.
The Ranch is actually a very good show. I'm really enjoying it. I had never really watched anything Ashton Kutcher did before. I never watched That 70s Show, and there was a point where he was rumored to be in like everything, including Superman, which annoyed me. But I will give him credit--he is terrific on The Ranch. The whole cast is.

So Season 2 has been pretty good so far overall, though it struggles with continuity. I feel like it has to be in a different timeline based on what they do.
It would be a better show if they just come out and say that. It is very entertaining, and this week's episode, which was released 5 days early as a fan surprise, was outstanding. It was a crossover between Lower Decks and SNW. If you watch both shows, you would like it.

Yes, it's annoying that so many streaming services exist. I totally agree.
That said, I subscribe to Paramount Plus because it provides my Perry Mason fix (original series). The episodes are uncut, and the picture is great. The music is too loud for some reason. I only care because my handicapped niece sleeps in the room next to mine, and PM is my go-to when insomnia kicks in.
I agree with Cram that Cobra Kai is a great series. We don't watch it when the season is new. We join and binge for a month to catch up. We're looking forward to season six.

Well, NETFLIX drops all the episodes on the same day, so there's no reason to wait.
