I loved Babylon 5. If it's finally being appreciated, that's a good thing.

That's a show I never got into. I know. Why not? The creator, who actually wrote almost the entire series by himself, is a huge liberal, and when I see some of the crap that goes on now, with conservatives being targeted and cancelled, I have to question whether people like him deserve my patronage. No joke. I saw a bunch of fans of this show trashing the late Rush Limbaugh over on Reddit yesterday, and it made me sick. If that's what people like him also inspire, I sometimes think now that it's the wrong decision to separate the person from his work/art, as I do with Roger Waters because I like his music. But politically he's pretty kooky, and it's reflected in a sizable portion of his body of professional work. I would like to see this remaster because it's the first time I'll be seeing the series in HD and near-HD, but subscribing to HBO Max...why would a guy like me want to do that at this point in this nation's history? I'm not telling you whether to watch it or not. That is of course for you to decide. But what I choose to look at is also influenced now by these kinds of things because these people have pretty much left me with no real choice in the matter. After all, if they view me with contempt because of my personal and political views, why should I be a consumer of what it is they produce? Pretty sick stuff, but that's not at all the way I was 25 years ago when this show was in production and airing in first-run. However, I am also curious as to why you've never given it a try?

Interesting. One of the aspects I liked best about Babylon 5 was religion.

I guess eventually I should give this show a shot. There are a lot of shows deserving of a rewatch, and rewatches may become more common as current TV can be so horrible.
Regarding Rush, if someone says something nasty about a dead man, rewrite the exact same sentence and substitute RBG for Rush. It may drive home the point.

After all, if they view me with contempt because of my personal and political views, why should I be a consumer of what it is they produce? I don't understand why you take things, made for a general audience, so personally. As I said, these people have an agenda, and they also despise and loathe people like me simply because I'm on the right and have different political views. So why should I help make them even richer, especially given that they view me with contempt? And it's not that I take things so personally. It's that they've made it a point and have gone out of their ways to make it personal by what theyy're doing and what it is that's largely motivating them to do it: hatred and contempt for Americans with traditional views of the country and society. They can't stand us, and want rub our noses in it at every perceived opportunity.
