Last night was the pilot to Superman and Lois. It wasn't a bad start at all. We are picking Superman up at a different point in his life, so that is the show's "hook."
He now has 2 sons. One is basically a well adjusted kid that has it all together and the other is not. Naturally the unadjusted one is the one inheriting the abilities, which actually is interesting.
The only woke thing in the pilot was introducing a black Luthor, when the one we have seen in the Arrowverse has been played by Jon Cryer. It's clear he's from an Earth that was destroyed in Crisis last year.
The only way this really works for me is if Luthor is from the world where all the heroes are of a different race. If this Luthor comes from a world with a black Superman, it changes the stench of political correctness for me.
But overall, the pilot gets a solid B+ for me. It wasn't as good as Supergirl's pilot, from before the show became a commercial for liberalism and demonized conservatives.
This is a different writing team.
I thought it interesting that Lois said, "the world will always need a Superman, but right now your family needs you more." The first part of that sentence mattered because the Supergirl writers once actually had Clark say, "the world doesn't need a Superman when it has a Supergirl."
They need to work on making Superman the top hero. They need to establish that and power him up a bit.
And they need to show him have a fight and NOT get his ass kicked.
But this is a decent start. They actually have me interested in the sons. Will the other son develop power? Will they move toward heroism? The one with the power is a character that isn't perfect like Clark, which is fine, but they need to be careful not to make him annoying. I'd like to see this as a way for him to bond with Clark, as Clark teaches his son the ropes.

Episode 2 in the books.
So far, I have to say, so good. If you ignore all his appearances on Supergirl and the Arrowverse before, it's not a bad start. One change I might make is the tone. The set is too dark. I think it should match the lighting on Supergirl and be a little brighter, but that's not THAT big of a deal in the scheme of things.
The show has been 99 percent not political. Just a little not so subtle commentary on a "living wage," which was countered by one of the characters in a fair way.
The problem with CW is you never know when the hammer is going to drop. In fact, there may already be complaints that the show isn't political enough.
SPOILER--
So this Luthor doesn't come from a world with a black Superman, but he does come from one with an EVIL Superman.
Could this Luthor actually be GOOD?
I've also noticed they haven't called him LEX yet. Just Captain Luthor.

I watched the premiere and really enjoyed it. I'm recording the series, but I don't have time to watch it now. I like the complication that comes from Superman being older, having sons, and one has powers.

And it doesn't have to stay that way. The other son could also get powers, and I hope he does. But if one had to get it first, it should be the one that DOESN'T have it all together. I like that choice.
My worry is that the show is going to cave and be political. A writer got fired for bitching that it wasn't woke enough.

Possibly, but this is CW. I don't know how long they will resist tokenism. Supergirl didn't start off that way either. It actually had a more fun start than this show. Granted, it was on CBS, but that wasn't it.
I'm also concerned CW will ruin Stargirl.
Stargirl was very refreshing after all the time dealing with CW politics.

Three episodes in. The Luthor plotline went on hold this week.
I'm just waiting for the shoe to drop on the politics. It really sucks that CW created such a toxic environment that I'm watching this show expecting them to take a turn for the worse.
Seeing this Superman more often I still feel he is too weak. He struggled against an opponent that should have been no challenge, but at least we see him finally win a fight. I guess beating a white male is ok for him. They revealed an interesting new villain but since she's female, I'm guessing she beats Superman's ass.
Regarding the sons, I find them interesting characters, though I would like to see something in them that makes me think of them as worthy of being the sons of Superman. They come off as fairly normal kids. Not bad kids. Not great kids. But just normal people.
I like that they are not too one dimensional and a bit complicated.
What I don't like is the Lana Lang family. But they don't really detract from the show.
Still, another strong episode.

Another week, and so far, Superman has not been political. Maybe we can get through the season before the liberals try to ruin it. While we aren't getting AWESOME episodes and I don't feel as strong as with Lois and Clark or Smallville in their early years, so far, so good. I still think Superman struggles a bit much physically. His weaknesses are not physical, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
You can hurt Superman by hurting innocents and reminding him that he can't protect everyone. But so far, it's not bad at all.

I'm recording S&L but not watching it. I'm trying to see all I can before my streaming apps expire, rather than renew. That said, I like Netflix enough to probably keep it.

Ironic, since I recently canceled Netflix. But I'll bring that back when there's new content.
You picked an interesting time, since Superman & Lois isn't back until May 18, while they air a bunch of Supergirl episodes.

I noticed the DVR stopped recording episodes. I thought there was some glitch that kept it from recording, so I deleted the ones I had. I'd like to hope that the first few episodes will be rerun when it come back, but being network TV, that's not likely. Shoot.

So Superman and Lois returned last night, and again, another very strong episode. They're doing a great job balancing Clark as a superhero and a father. I'm really hoping to see some good in the sons that shows them as worthy of being a Superman.
They aren't bad kids at all. They are quite normal. But they aren't exceptional like Clark.
The Captain Luthor storyline just isn't doing it for me. Maybe it's because it's moving a bit slow. But they are still churning out good episodes. Hopefully the political people won't ruin it.

Spoiler alert--
Superman is mirroring Supergirl's terrific first season quite well.
In Supergirl, they had a surprise reveal where "Hank Henshaw" turned out to be Martian Manhunter.
They did something very similar and managed to take the only thing about the show that felt woke and forced, and turned it into something the exact opposite.
They managed to do an interesting introduction of a fairly major character from Superman.

I don't follow Supergirl.
I did watch the two new episodes of Superman & Lois. Very interesting.
You said Clark was exceptional; well, yes. But maybe he had difficulties with his abilities that we never saw. This show certainly makes it seem like he did. Maybe Clark had difficulties much like Jordan. I hope Jonathan turns out to have abilities too.
I can accept that there are other universes where all possible outcomes are happening. But wouldn't Lex also know that, since he's seen one outcome on his original planet, and another on Earth? Yes, he thinks it's a prelude to disaster, but still, if he knows there are more than just these two Earths and Krypton's, doesn't that mean that Superman (and those like him) may not have been the bad guy(s) in every universe?
It's fascinating that Lux's wife on his home planet was Lois Lane! That must be hard on him, and his daughter, if she remembers much.
What I have difficulty with is that Lex Luthor, who hates Superman so much that he traveled to another planet to kill him, can't recognize that Kent *is* Superman when they're just a few feet apart. I mean, they're just eyeglasses! Wouldn't his general appearance and voice be dead giveaways?
The idea of X-Kryptonite is interesting too. I read somewhere (maybe you posted a link) that someone suggested to the show's creator that it would make a better TV series than a movie, because of all the background needed. With the layering of new ideas and twists, that person was right!

Supergirl started off great, but again, the liberals took over and ruined it.
Superman and Lois, so far, no issues in that regard. On Smallville, we saw how Clark learned each power as it developed. Jordan is going through similar things, but he isn't as strong mentally as Clark.
Since you made this post, there was a pretty important reveal--that Captain Luthor is not a Lex doppleganger--he is a doppleganger of John Henry Irons, which leaves open the possibility that he is a good man.
Irons is a hero in the DC universe and he is one of the four people who took over for Superman when Doomsday killed him.
The glasses thing has been something going on for decades. If you're not thinking about it, you're not thinking about it.
Interestingly enough, the other day, I ran into a softball teammate that I hadn't seen in a couple of years. He was right in front of me. But he wasn't wearing a hat, was dressed differently, and I completely didn't recognize him until it all clicked in. Embarrassing, but it happened.

I never liked L&O SVU after Elliott left. I've really looked forward to L&O Organized Crime, putting Stabler in to a new show. In the first episode, they killed off Elliot's wife. That made me mad (it was a different actress; I guess the one who played Kathy didn't want to come back just to be killed). I was already disliking it, then I realized that the storylines are for the season at least; nothing gets resolved or settled. Worse, Olivia's been in 6 of the eight episodes, and will be in the season two premiere! Olivia, go home! Lastly, the female cop has a wife. Okay, they're married, but I don't understand why their personal lives are a focus in the show. We didn't see that with other L&0s. I assume this is woke-ness. If so, it's annoying. I'm not enjoying the series that I had greatly looked forward to back when it was just a rumor. I hear you about Superman and the glasses, but the voice; I dunno. I picked up that Lex is a John Henry Irons; I hope that means he'll get over his hatred of Superman and become an ally. Superman could use some friends. Seeing people and things that don't click is a big part of my reality, because I'm over 70. Not to mention, I look older than Shatner.

They have gone an interesting direction with the plot this week, and I'm curious how it plays out. They are bringing in more Kryptonian concepts like the Eradicator which may be interesting.
It's hard to picture this in the same world as Supergirl, and I think that's a good thing. Of course it IS in that world, and we will be seeing Diggle this year from Arrow, and I'm looking forward to that.

Decent episode of Superman. It started off very good, but by the end, Superman again looked like this weak, submissive.
I'll let the story play out, but it just seems like they can't make Superman actually BE Superman.

Overall, the show is still pretty good. Hoeshlin isn't anywhere near the best Superman, and they still weaken the character quite a bit, but it's not THAT bad.
