I found this interesting. The link is below. The remake of Dune was made specifically for IMAX. No allowances were made (or a copy edited) for what it would look like on a smaller movie screen (and certainly not at home). I'm too old to drive to an IMAX to see this, but if I were, the three IMAX theaters in the state of Washington are "temporarily" closed. Covid? Not sure. Gary, if you glance at this, I dunno how to how you get such a great-looking picture, title and link on your pages. Care to share? I'd appreciate it. If you don't read this, or don't want to, I accept that. www.tomsguide.com/opinion/dont-make-the-dune-mistake-i-did-dont-see-it-like-this

Yeah, my local IMAX has been “temporarily closed” for COVID for over a year now. It stinks because No Time to Die and Venom 2 and especially Dune should have been seen there. I will still see Dune as soon as I can, but it stinks I can’t see it on the best possible screen.

It doesn't sound like you drive or own a car. I saw it a couple of weekends ago. Not bad for what it is, but it's a very dark, dreary picture. It doesn't strike me as the kind of world anyone would aspire to, so I'm not sure what the allure of this fantasy really is for its fans. It's like being condemned to Hell. The first 45 minutes is world building and it kind of drags. Eventually they get to the attack on the House Atreides, which is where it picks up and actually gets good. I won't go into any detail so as not to spoil anything for you, but like me, you may enjoy it for the action, but little else. That's just a guess on my part though. Let me know what you think after you see it.

I have seen it twice now. I like it though it drags a bit in the last 20 minutes and really feels like half a movie.
The closest IMAX is a few miles down the road. But that’s the closed one. There only two other available ones are cities away. And I don’t drive. I walk to the theater or if I have to go into Boston for something special I’ll take a train. Wasn’t worth it for this, and not sure anytrue IMAX in the city was playing it.
