I still haven't started Season 2. It's amazing how far Star Trek has fallen when it isn't even close to must see TV anymore.

I have now started season 2 of Picard. I didn't like the first season much, but the second season's premiere wasn't terrible at all.

I have now started season 2 of Picard. I didn't like the first season much, but the second season's premiere wasn't terrible at all. Give it time... it gets worse. I’m halfway through and it’s preachy and frustrating. And how stupid is it that Guinan works at a bar whose address is 10 Forward Street? Season two isn’t as needlessly R-rated as season one, but Rafi is a useless character and the tone is still all wrong. Is it as bad as season ine? Well... that’ll depend on how it ends.

I'm 3 episodes in, and still not that bad. I am seeing some preachiness, and Rafi is getting on the annoying side however.

For what it's worth, the season 3 premiere wasn't bad at all. There's a twist in there that makes little sense, but the storyline isn't bad. Sometimes I wonder how different the 24th century shows would have been if they were run by people that didn't hate the original series and would have embraced it.
We sort of have that now, but the writers are too woke. But the first episode of season 3 was decent. A good start.

Ok, I may have just watched the most interesting Trek episode since 1996. Season 3, Episode 6. If Star Trek had been written like this since TNG went off the air, it would be very different.
It had a lot, and even answered some fun questions that we have had for decades. And for 3 seconds, they revealed something very shocking, if you catch it. Makes me really want to see what they do with the Section 31 show.

Incredible story in episode 9, and somewhere, a 175 year old Dr. McCoy is saying "I told you so." You'll get that if you see it.

Cram, your latest posts are very intriguing, and I really want to see season 3 of Picard. But all kinds of costs have gone up. I got rid of every bit of streaming. We just have DirecTV. Maybe later this year I'll be able to see it. In the meantime, I look forward to see how others respond to your posts.

Season 3 of Picard is really the best Star Trek since maybe Season 3-5 of DS9. Again, Seasons 1-2 were not that good. If the TNG movies, Voyager and Enterprise were written by the same group that did Season 3 of Picard, Trek history would be very different. It's blatantly obvious that the writers of this show do not have the hatred and jealousy of TOS that Berman and Braga had. I guess what made this season so much better is that they had the full TNG cast. The woke nonsense took a backseat to fan service and nostalgia. There is clear love for TOS despite this being a TNG show, and again, they even gave hope for Kirk. It's not the story they wanted to tell but they did set the stage for a writer and the studio to do that story. It is obvious that Terry Matalas is a big fan of the original series and they were not afraid to use TOS easter eggs. They treat TOS the way it should be treated enough that I might even trust them to do a Kirk return properly.
As for TNG, obviously, he is a huge fan as well. He brought back actors we never thought we would see again. Just out of nowhere. The end of episode 9 was pretty epic from the consequences to the Federation, to the revelation of a major surprise that brings hope for the finale.
They did do one thing I didn't like, involving a character I do like, but because it's more of a disappointment thing than an anger thing.
As for watching it, what I would do is get Paramount Plus for one month. If you want commercials, it may be only like $5. If you want commercial-free, it's $10. During that month, go to town. Just do a Star Trek marathon. I would recommend Strange New Worlds Season 1, Picard Season 3 (though with only 10 episodes a season, you should probably watch all 3 as a major event of Season 1 is vital to season 3), and the two cartoon shows. Lower Decks is clearly written by big fans of Star Trek, and it's a comedy for die-hard Trek fans with a sense of humor. Prodigy isn't quite as good, but it does involve a pretty good storyline that spans 20 episodes (30 minutes each).
It would be worth the $10.

The finale of Picard was pretty good. The opening cameo was an awesome surprise. The third season gets a 10/10 for embracing Star Trek's history. The biggest issue is that the end couldn't live up to the set up. But that's only because of the hype. They tried setting up the next series, and admittedly, I'm not as interested. The post-credit scene though did lead to a cool possibility.
Overall, Season 3 of Picard was the best season of Star Trek, albeit shorter, than anything they have done since Season 5 of DS9. The first half of the finale was a 10/10, but once the action ended, all the coda was a little. I can forgive that. I'll give the season an A, and the finale an A-. I think die-hard TNG fans will be very pleased, as Season 3 was far better than any of the TNG movies.
I do wish they would greenlight a Kirk return led by this team.

Cram, you're right. Paramount Plus is just $4.99 a month. I don't know when I'll get it, but maybe this month. Maybe next. I'm really looking forward to it!
