Considering how long the director’s cut has been out of print, I’m sure this will make some very happy. I wonder if they’ve changed anything more. There are still a few edits I dislike, and feel like in at least one Wise was manipulated into changing something that didn’t need changing (the “viewer off!” repeat). A shame Shatner will likely never get to revisit his film. Which version of Star Trek VI will this have?

There are actually three different cuts of this movie, the theatrical, the extended home video, and the one for the director’s edition DVD where he swapped out a couple shots and did those annoying inserts during the mind meld. He also trimmed the meld down. So it would seem that version is the director’s cut, which annoys me because I think the earlier video cut is superior. Very glad all three versions of TMP will be included though.

This is a tough one to call for certain because they're not clear in their press release. www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=30942The scenes with Colonel West were supposedly cut completely from the theatrical release because there were elements about them that didn't sit well with Gene Roddenberry, who was dying at the time let's not forget, and so they probably decided to respect his wishes by editing them out. They were however included in the home video releases, except for the Blu-ray release. So what exactly are they going to do in this situation? Your guess is as good as mine. It can be an either/or situation for this coming 4k release, I suppose. It could be that it will include the theatrical release without the Colonel West scenes because they're included in the Director’s Cut. At the moment there doesn't appear to be a way to know for certain one way or the other.
