Yes. I would argue that it is the best episode of Star Trek anywhere since 1996. It's the first time in canon that there is a potential future for Kirk. Now whether they will ACT on in is another issue. But they dropped a bomb that would be rough not to follow up on. Picard season 3 has been excellent.
Season 3 episode 6 had about 100 easter eggs from all versions of Star Trek. DS9, TNG, ENT, TOS, and VOY--all got some love (though admittedly, ENT was a blink and you'll miss it nod).
I wish Rick Berman had the same attitude toward the original series that the current show runners do. Picard Season 3 is clearly written by people that love both TOS and TNG. I doubt Kirk will appear in Picard Season 3, but they did open a door for someone to do something. I'll comment more when someone actually sees it.
