I saw that. My feeling on the show is that it's decent, but that it is hard to reconcile the show with the prime universe. I think they should follow the lead of Abrams and declare Discovery and SNW a separate universe. It would alleviate problems that only exist if it's the prime universe but would not be an issue if the show were unrelated to Star Trek.
For example, Nurse Chapel and Dr. M'Benga are pretty well written, likeable characters. They just are nothing like and could not evolve into the characters we knew. If they were Nurse Smith and Dr. Jones, there would be no issue at all.

Well, the same goes for Spock too. Doesn't it? I would have no problem with Peck's portrayal except for the fact that he really doesn't resemble Nimoy, nor does he come off much like him in the original show. It's as though they're different people, different Vulcans. And if he played a different Vulcan character it would be just fine. But that's not how they cast him.
Nothing about SNW reconciles with anything about the original series. Oh, sure, the names are the same, and the name of the ship is the same, but it is a different universe in every respect except for those staples. Nothing resembles the universe we know from the first series.
The effects have come a long way when compared to TNG, but big deal if you can't stand anything else about the show.
Frankly, I don't know how you stand it.
I had a very hard time staying awake on Friday night while trying to watch the second episode all the way through, but that was my fault. Not the show's. That aside, however, I thought the plot and how it was written and presented very juvenile.
The third episode was an improvement, but they had to ruin it by turning Number One into an alien for the purpose of justifying the LGBTQ+ (and 502 other add-ons to that ridiculous acronym apparently) agenda.
It's woke, bro. Disgustingly woke, just as I figured it would be.
And they had to stick an descendant of Khan aboard the Enterprise of all ships? Really? For cryin' out loud.
It's just bad. Pure nonsense.
I don't even know if I want to suffer through the other seven episodes for free.
I sure as hell know I don't want to see Stacey Abrams' appearance though.
There's only so much punishment I'm willing to subject myself to.

I don't necessarily feel that Spock is all that out of character, though no one can do the character justice like Nimoy. At least not from watching the show. Spock under Pike was different tan Spock under Kirk. He did more to try to act a little human and fit in, like when he smiled at the flowers in The Cage. My issue with Spock is the whole Burnham being his adoptive sister thing. THAT is hard to reconcile.
Stacey Abrams was on Discovery, not SNW, and I didn't see that. I don't see a LBGTQRSTUVNMLOP thing with Number One. It's not perfect, but it's better than Discovery by a lot. Picard Season 3 was excellent.

It had to do with her being different and the conclusion of the third episode specifically.
Episode 5 was an improvement, until that predictably ridiculous and corny ending. And the whole Spock and T'Pring trying to make their relationship work storyline ...Jesus! And there wasn't really anything in or about "Amok Time" to indicate or imply they were ever that close. On the contrary, the episode implies they were basically strangers other than when they were betrothed to each other at seven years of age.
I don't want to nitpick, but this stuff irks me, and that just isn't the Starfleet I remember. And I'm sickened and disgusted by the wokeness.
I guess that's why I'm looking back to old shows for some entertainment.
I just got the whole series of "Seven Days" on DVD delivered tonight by Amazon, and I have "The Lazarus Man" on order for delivery next month. That one is an MOD, which is the reason for the longer-than-usual wait.
I also posted a five-minute clip from The Expanse in the Non-Trek Entertainment section. It's not the entire sequence of events, but it was as much as I could find in one video chunk online.
You should give it a look.
It'll give you an idea as to why I have a preference for that series over anything being done with the Trek franchise presently.

That difference is likely going to be important in Season 2. But it isn't LBQJDFJHKSJDHF stuff.
I agree that Spock/T'Pring is a weakness. I think the writing team overestimated the relationship. I would have to watch Amok Time again. I will say if you continue, watch Balance of Terror before you watch episode 10. If I remember right, Episode 10 is the best episode of the series. But it's been a year, and I am doing a rewatch.
If I remember right, I enjoyed Seven Days. If you would like a good time travel show that you may not have seen, I would recommend 12 Monkeys. I'm watching it for the first time, and I am enjoying it. Hulu had a deal where they were charging $6 for 3 months. I don't know if that deal is still on, but I think the entire series is 47 episodes or so, which means you could do it in a month if you are motivated. I feel like it really does a good job with time travel, though there is one plot hole I think exists.
Good cast.

If I remember right, I enjoyed Seven Days. If you would like a good time travel show that you may not have seen, I would recommend 12 Monkeys. I've watched Seven Days and have probably seen most of the series. I don't think I saw them all, but I must have watched two-thirds of it, if not more. If I'm remembering correctly, I got into it during the summer repeat season following its first season, and probably stuck with it from there onward. I only bought it for the purpose of revisiting it occasionally, but with what I see going on with the entertainment medium presently, I may decide to give it a full rewatch. The show was a mixed bag. Good episodes, mediocre episodes, and some just plain bad. It could have gone on longer and reached some kind of a resolution, but by the time it reached the end of its third season, things going on behind the scenes and its low ratings (it was produced by Paramount and aired on UPN after all, which never accrued good ratings for any of its shows) resulted in its being canceled. A shame too. The show had some real potential. If I'm remembering correctly, by the time they reached their Mirror Universe episode, things had gotten pretty bad and cheesey, and it never recovered. As for 12 Monkeys, I did try to watch it in first-run on the Syfy Channel, but it was weird because it was a show I literally fell asleep trying to watch no more than ten minutes into the episodes, and this kept happening week after week after week until I finally gave up on it altogether. It wasn't the fault of the show. It just happened to be scheduled on a day and time of the week where I was usually tired and would crash. I can't see myself giving it another try though because I was satisfied with the theatrical film. The Lazarus Man I intend to watch because I've never seen it, and I liked Robert Urich as an actor. I know I will be left hanging though because it never got to a second season, having been canceled once Urich was diagnosed with cancer. That sucks. This show, and Seven Days are both available to watch free on archive.org interestingly enough. I already knew about the former, but wasn't aware of the latter until just after I purchased it. I expect the video quality of Seven Days to be so-so at best. I've heard mixed reports about it, with some people being fine with the quality, and some feeling it was substandard. So my guess is they were probably duplicated from a VHS source and were never remastered. Very unfortunate, but it figures.

I found that 12 Monkeys was only ok for the first few episodes, and it got better on the back half of Season 1. I'm in the middle of season 2 now, and I think the back half of season 1 was a little better, but the show is decent. Worth the time I think. Never watched Lazarus Man. Shows that end on cliffhangers are a pet peeve of mine.
