Just watched The Flash movie, and for once, they got it right. This is the best post-2013 DC movie by far. Cool cameos, well done plot, and thought provoking.
Best superhero movie since No Way Home.

I saw it too. I liked it. Wouldn't necessarily say it's the best one ever, but it's certainly the best one in awhile. I rewatched all the ones up through Justice League before going. I was annoyed that they recast Flash's dad, though it's not a big deal. I liked that it subtly seemed to be implying the Snyder Cut version of events was canon. Some of the CGI was too rubbery at times; there were a LOT of digital doubles, which is understandable for some of the big effects sequences but the unreality did take a little bit away from some of the scenes. More photo-realistic CG would have made the opening sequence even better, which I won't spoil, but I thought was hilarious and one of the best superhero sequences I've seen recently. I do think the story was a little weak, as it kind of floundered in the middle. There isn't really a focal villain, as the obstacle is more situational. And I don't care what universe it is, Supergirl is blonde. This one looked more like the future version that's Clark's daughter from the comics.
I thought the fan service was fun, even if some of it was just there to be fan service. Maybe a little too much of it, with moments that won't play at all for people not in the know.
And it's interesting thinking about just how long this movie had been in development hell. Were it not for all the shakeups this could have come out before No Way Home. Hard to know whether it was so successful now because they took the time or if it would have been just as good either way. And of course now that DC seems on track again, they fire everyone and start over. It's a shame we couldn't get another Henry Cavill Superman when things were looking up here. Then again, who knows?
Anyway, the effects were the weakest part for me. Like there just wasn't enough time or money put into them in places. And that's a shame because it took away some of the fun and drama of those moments.
Still think Ezra Miller should be arrested for being a crazed kidnapping cult leader.

When I mean best EVER, I am only talking about Man of Steel onward. I don't think anything in the Snyder era was all that great, so it's not a major standard. My issue is that if you can't get Superm right, and MOS and BvS butchered the character, the whole shared universe will be wrong. Steve Rogers in Marvel was a better Superman than Superman in DC.
As for the CGI, apparently it was lessened on purpose. I don't know why they made that decision because I believe in realism looking CGI, but that was a creative choice over bad tech.
I think the story was more about time travel and the consequences of it and it served a bit like a finale for the Snyder universe. This was an excellent idea, as Flashpoint was a major event in the comics, and this story was loosely based on it. But it's a tough story for a FIRST solo movie. Apparently there is an interview where the director said Reverse Flash did kill Barry's mom, but no evidence of that in the movie itself. It makes more sense to have this be a random murderer in THIS movie. But if they went full Flashpoint, the movie would have been much tougher for the audience to follow. That's why they had to go with Keaton over Thomas Wayne.
I love fan service, but I wish that the scene with the major fan service had more for those characters to do than simply stare at a portal.
The movie didn't do as well financially, and I wonder how much that had to do with Miller.
