That's a very interesting article, and the news this week really was puzzling. Prodigy wasn't that bad. It wasn't as good as Lower Decks, but it was interesting. Different, but not TOO different, and while it is aimed at a younger audience, it's not TOO off kilter. It wasn't the Star Trek equivalent of Star Wars Resistance, which I had to stop watching because it was so bad.
Discovery is awful. It was the first Trek show I ever quit. But I do like SNW. I liked Season 3 of Picard, which got universal praise. I like Lower Decks. I think it's a show for long time Star Trek fans who have a sense of humor.
Season 3 of Picard gave them a lot of momentum, and it was implied some good projects were coming. I have almost zero interest in the Section 31 show right now. The Academy show doesn't really excite me either. And unlike others, the Legacy show that may be coming is really going to just take the least important things from Picard and make it a show. But it almost seems like the Prodigy cancellation halted all their momentum. The timing is odd, and with the writers strike going on, you would think that they would want to get their content out there.
