Hmmm...What do they mean by "further distancing itself from the original" here? Could they possibly mean by establishing clearly that it's an alternate universe, separate and apart from the original, with different, rather than precisely the same, characters? If so, of course I and a few others here would welcome it. The question is whether or not we should actually hold our breath for it at this point.
Over at Blastr:Wait, Leonard Nimoy might be back for Abrams' Star Trek 2? We've been hearing a lot of buzz that J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel would further distance itself from The Original Series, meaning that Spock cameo from the first film was a one-time thing. Apparently not, at least according to Leonard Nimoy. MORE: blastr.com/assets_c/2009/04/StarTrek_Nimoy_SpockPrime-thumb-550x281-16973.jpg [/quote]

The biggest purpose could be to send Spock Prime back to his home universe, and show that Vulcan is ok. It would be a good way to end the "they wiped out the prime universe" thing.
Of course if they send him home, that also kind of sucks because he'll be gone, but at least it would keep the original canon alive.

Gary, I don't understand why you keep creating new threads for topics that exist. This could have gone in the ST movie thread, or better yet, the spoiler thread. The title you gave this is a possible spoiler all by itself. It can't be avoided as a separate thread.
