All right--it doesn't really matter to me if we talk about this here or in the other thread, so here's fine.
First--Spock Prime. I'm very curious as to how Nimoy will be used this time. My hope is that they are using him to possibly send him home. Ties up the loose end of the last movie, and re-establishes the prime universe as canon.
Second--I hate the idea of Khan. It's so damn unoriginal and shows a complete lack of understanding of Khan's role. By choosing Khan, they guarantee that they will not live up to the past. It is absolutely impossible to make a better story involving Khan than what we saw.

We can only hope the rumor isn't true. TWOK is perfection. To remake that movie again shows that the new PTB have no clue about what constitutes sacrilege to TOS fans.
If this fellow is Khan, perhaps it's not a direct remake. With Chris Pine as Kirk, James T. won't be complaining about getting older (unless in a subplot he ages too fast).
As for the casting, no offense, but Benedict Cumberbatch does not look genetically engineered to be superhuman. He's gangly and has beady eyes set too far apart (Dr. Who comes to mind). Ricardo Montalban was handsome and sexy, and utterly believable as a super-human. What a waste. With those eyes, Cumberbatch would have made a great alien. Hmm. Maybe an alien highjacked Khan's ship, and threw out the sleeping crew.
Cumberbatch is in the remake of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. I got it yesterday from Netflix but haven't seen it yet. Colin Firth is in TTSS. In the stills, he greatly reminds me of Shatner at that age. It makes me wish Firth had been cast as Kirk.
Long before these newer Trek movies were made, I wanted the crew recast so they could have new adventures. I wonder if that will happen. So far, the new Trek is a lot like the old Trek, without the reverence for what came before.
I know as Spock Prime, it's okay for Leonard Nimoy to look old. But as Nimoy, he looks his age, and then some.

Gary, I'm glad you noted this is a spoiler, but again, a thread existed for this. If you write a new post in an existing folder, the folder pops up to the top and the word NEW appears by it. That means your posts aren't going to be overlooked or buried. We'll see 'em!

Keep in mind one thing--they shouldn't be remaking Khan.
Montalban and the writers were very smart. Khan wasn't the same in TWOK as he was in Space Seed. He was a much more bitter human being and obsessed with revenge on the man who marooned him and in his eyes, was responsible for the death of his wife.
If Khan is played like he was in TWOK, that would be very wrong.
I would think Cumberbatch put on some muscle for the role.
He's a very good actor, but no one could do justice to Montalban. Bad call.
