For me it's not that Chekov is alive, but he looks 75 years old. McCoy LOOKED 143.
I'll watch it to see if it's good. I'll give it a fair shake, but I think that Star Trek shouldn't be so dark.

I think BOBW--no. FC, yes. How was "Best Of Both Worlds" not dark? The Borg ravaged the fleet at Wolf 359 and decimated it. Hope wins out in the end, sure, but only after enormous damage had already been done and was yet to still take a lot if its toll. We have no idea whether "Renegades" will have a hopeful message in the end. Perhaps it will, but this latest trailer is also a mess, and it's a bit premature to say it doesn't set the right tone or theme for a Trek feature because we really don't know one way or the other whether it does or doesn't yet. But shit, they could have done a better job with those costumes, which weren't tailored at all and make it look like a damn fan film. I don't see this thing selling as a TV series and would be very surprised if turns out i'm wrong, because I think even the suits over at CBS looking at it will think it smacks as too much of an amateur attempt at a series Pilot.

BOBW was a story where humanity was confronted with an unbeatable enemy, but their best ship managed to overcome that enemy using human ingenuity.
That's not dark.

BOBW was a story where humanity was confronted with an unbeatable enemy, but their best ship managed to overcome that enemy using human ingenuity. But only at the very end. The situation up to that point was bleak and very dire, and the people of the Ent-D lost many friends and colleagues. The tide doesn't turn until the moment that Picard, still semi-Locutus and crippled, tells Data to put the Borg ship to sleep, and by then we've sat through almost two full episodes of pretty much nothing but Starfleet --and humanity-- getting the crap kicked out of them by the Borg. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. You're right about the message that comes from it in the end, but I did also acknowledge that in my prior post as well.

That's the story. Balance of Terror was similar in that regard. The message is of hope and perseverance. But fair enough on agreeing to disagree.

I need to give this a shot. You mean you still haven't given it a look even after all this time? Don't watch it on a tablet or phone. Pull it up on YouTube and watch it on your TV. By the way ...did you ever get the private message that I sent you here? I know it's easy to miss those if one isn't paying close attention when they come here.

Their Fourth Episode has just been released: Supposedly Vimeo has better frame rates, so that would be the preferred site and Player for this, but either way, I intend to watch it on my TV later tonight, probably after midnight when I turn into a wolf.

I cannot believe how good the quality of these episodes are. They are kicking Cawley's ass.

I plan on watching thsi tonight. I am amused that Colin Baker is in it. I'm curious how they got him to appear.
I still like Cawley's stuff too. I think it's a matter of budget. Isn't Phase 2 supposed to have a new episode soon ?

I would think their budgets are fairly similar. I just think the quality of stories and acting have been better with STC.
But I do still like Cawley too.

I was going to watch this on YouTube but I heard it got pulled so I'll have to watch it on their site. Watch it on Vimeo, which I provided a link to. It's superior to YouTube anyway. I watched it from there on my TV through my Apple TV box and it played flawlessly and looked excellent. You may also have access to Vimeo through your Blu-ray Player.

I cannot believe how good the quality of these episodes are. They are kicking Cawley's ass. I have to tell you that I was left shaking my head while looking at it, and after I finished watching it as well. That's not to say that it was terrible, but it was the ultimate in fan wank, which is a term I don't particularly care for, but I nevertheless think it describes this latest effort of theirs especially. I mean, look, they've done four episodes to date, and three of them were sequels to actual original series episodes in some sense. Their most original offering to date is "Lolani," and I wish they would concentrate more on trying to produce material like that instead of rehashing ground already covered in TOS, which was the case in this latest release yet again. I'm not saying the writing was somehow inferior or terrible, because it wasn't, and in some scenes it was actually pretty spot-on to what one would expect from the original series, but Kirk reliving all these moments of past loves was clearly the result of things rumbling around Vic Mignona's head for much of his life. [Spoilers ahead, so don't read further if you haven't seen episode 4 and intend to look at it.] We didn't need to see Kirk bothered by the fact that he never got to explain to these women just who he was or why he acted in the ways he did while with them. And their undoing Spock's memory block of his experience with Rayna struck me as also stepping a bit over the line because the original series writers ended the episode that way for a reason, and they never went back to it again to change it. On the plus side, Todd Haberkorn strikes me as having gotten better at playing Spock, and Chuck Huber, who's playing McCoy, wasn't bad either. There were actually a few places where he even sounded very much like DeForest Kelley to me as well. I'm referring to his voice and inflections, and not necessarily the dialogue he was given, although for the most part that was either fitting or not very far off as well. I didn't hate it for what it's worth, but these guys really need to step out of their comfort zone by hearkening back to the original series constantly for plots and material.

My wife and I watched The White Iris over the weekend. I liked it but, as others have commented, I wish they would do an original episode that does not reference other older stories. Oh, and please go somewhere. Beam down to a planet or something. So far "Lolani" is still my favorite STC production. I'm waiting for Cawley's next effort and the last couple of Starship Farragut's have been very good too. As for Renegades, I have a bad feeling about it but will still try it.

I've never seen a Farragut film. The production values are lower but I like the idea that it's the same TOS era but it's a different ship and crew. The TOS gang have cameos but the stories are unique to this series. Plus Faragut Films handles production for Star Trek Continues.

Everyone seems so damn apathetic here that I wasn't even going to bother, but I know a few of you enjoy "'Star Trek Continues,” so despite my better judgment, I'm here to let you know that they've released a new episode, and even though I haven't gotten to see it myself yet, I'm hearing it's pretty good and may even be their best episode to date.
So there you go.
You're welcome.
Oh, and by the way, even though no one has bothered to bring it up, "Renegades" really sucked.

The latest episode of Star Trek Continues was terrific. It's getting to the point where we can even up the standard because the acting is better than other fan films of this type.
As a Star Trek story, it was excellent. Not that original, but few stories are these days. That episode could easily slip in as one of the episodes of the original series.
They do a lot to be proud of.

Watched the new Starship Farrgut: The Crossing last week. A nice episode. An interesting take om the Mirror Universe. It worked for me even though I'm kind of tired of the whole Mirror thing.

You dastardly devil.
Well, I have an excuse.
On May 28, while on Facebook, I clicked a translate button (which was black, not FB blue). Instantly, all of FB turned to Portuguese. I got off of FB to research how to change it back. Usually it's easy to translate by search, but that time it wasn't. I looked at my browser's add-ons. They were all gone!
Dell got on my computer and noticed that a program had downloaded that day. The agent tried to delete it. It was very difficult to do. When he did so, another program popped up on the uninstall list. He managed to get rid of that one. Again a new program popped up. He got rid of that, and Slimcleaner appeared. He managed to delete that, and 7-Zip appeared. At that point, he told me to see how the computer fared.
Long story short (too late!) the virus was so tenacious, I had to get a new hard drive. To get to the point where Dell agreed with that took three weeks. When I got my computer back, I'd been without a computer for ovet a month. I'm so glad it's working right again!

Mel, why didn't you or the technician just reformat your machine? That's the conclusion I would have reached beyond a certain point. At any rate, this board withering and dying isn't your fault. After all, the guy who created it hasn't logged in since February, and for other reasons both directly and indirectly tied to that, I don't even know why I drop in anymore myself on occasion. It seemed I was being basically ignored and shunned last year as it was, so I really don't know why I bother at all. Anyway, glad you got your computer working again.
