Well I watched this week's episode Into The Dalek and it just didn't do anything for me. The whole Fantastic Voyage Meets Doctor Who thing seemed kind of half hearted. Capaldi was fine and I think this new Danny Pink dude is going to be okay, but the episode was dull. To be honest, a lot of the writing sucked last season and if this is any indication, it's not improving. My biggest complaint about this is I think the audience will blame Capaldi, not Moffat.

It's too soon. I admit Capaldi is off to a slower start, but I think that's intentional.

I enjoyed this week's episode much more.
This week, the Doctor was still kind of jerky, but not in an unlikeable way. He had good chemistry with his co-stars, and there was good humor in there.
I could see Tennant and Smith doing this script.

l liked the previous episode more and got a kick out of their ripping off the film "Fantastic Voyage" by going inside a Dalek instead of some other kind of alien or a human being. For a franchise that's been around for over a half a century, it's about time they got around to do their own takeoff of that classic SF film.

I finally got a chance to see Robots of Sherwood and I liked it. This episode was a humorous romp and that's all it was meant to be. People complained that it was the mythical Robin Hood and not the historical one but they addressed it and I think the point of the story was that our fictional or mythical heroes inspire us all to do better and do good. I think Coleman has better chemistry with Capaldi than she did with Matt Smith. I like Clara much more than I did last season, though it certainly was not her fault.

My only problem with Into the Dalek was that it portrayed the Doctor as more of a jerk than he should be. I think Robots of Sherwood made a nice adjustment.

My only problem with Into the Dalek was that it portrayed the Doctor as more of a jerk than he should be. I think Robots of Sherwood made a nice adjustment. I noticed that too. I like Capaldi fine and I had never seen him on any of the British shows that had been mentioned. He's cranky and reminiscent of my first Doctor Jon Pertwee. He dresses a little like him too. He doesn't really copy Pertwee, thankfully. A lot of newer fans seem to have trouble with the regeneration thing. When I first started watching I didn't really understand that this happened every few seasons. I got behind watching Doctor Who and when I saw Tom Baker instead of Jon Pertwee, I just figured Pertwee must have asked for more money.

I don't necessarily have a problem with regeneration, though it bothers me when I feel the actor hasn't run his course.
I think all three of the modern Doctors left too soon.

I watched the episode "Listen" last night and, despite what some have said, I rather enjoyed it. My problem wasn't the story. It was about the nature of fear, I just didn't need the writer hitting me over the head with it. Hey, Moffat, you don't need to spoon feed me. I get it ! The episode was very atmospheric and Capaldi had some great one liners.

That's interesting. You're implying you have read a lot of negative comments on "Listen."
I've read much more positive ones, with people arguing it was one of the best episodes in a long time. I enjoyed it myself. Not sure I would quite put it on the level of Blink, but it was for me, the best episode of the season so far.

I'm so behind on Who. Thank God for my DVR. I guess I will be dodging Internet Spoilers until I get to the finale.

The BBC themselves really pissed me off last week. On their official site, they put up a MAJOR spoiler immediately after the episode aired in the UK, and several hours before it aired in America.
I unfollowed them on Twitter for that.

I guess it'll have to wait.

That's cool. Would love to see McGann do some more stuff.

I hate River Song. I saw this on Blastr. I will check the Big Finish site for more details. McGann's stuff at Big Finish is Top Shelf stuff. If anyone can make her shine, it will be him. McGann's interaction with other Doctor's companions is priceless. He had a ball in Big Finish's Light at the End which was their 50th Anniversary show. All 8 Doctors and several companions made the TV anniversary show look like utter junk.

I hate River Song. I saw this on Blastr. This site picked it up before Blastr, and I wasn't sure how long it would take before the other news sites got to it, so I posted it here specifically for you because I know that you're into their radio dramas. I don't like her either though. I also wish they found a way to include McGann's Doctor in the TV series being that he got so shortchanged in that format. Out of curiosity, do you think the audio dramas would lend themselves to being put into animation being that they have all the voiceover work and sound effects already there? Hell, CGI animation would probably be even better, but I can't imagine their springing for that because of the cost and work that would be involved. I may have brought this up previously.

Yeah, you could animate the stories, but it just works so well in its own medium that I'm neutral on the concept. It would work better for some Doctors than others. Heck, Tom Baker just begs to be animated.

Anyone catch the Season 9 premiere?
Very interesting start to the season. We have a chicken and egg situation. The Doctor is kind of being asked a question--if you can kill Hitler as a baby, would you?

I have not watched it yet, but I know to whom you are referring. Yes, that's an interesting dilemma. If you have not seen it try to catch Tom Baker's Who episode Genesis of the Daleks. I think you will truly enjoy it.

It's funny you mention that. BBC America aired Genesis of the Daleks the next day, so this was really the first Tom Baker episode I watched.
It was pretty solid. And you really could see how it connects to the season 9 premiere.

I've been watching this with interest. It's really my first Second Doctor experience. I like the show, but I don't really like the animation. I do get what they are trying to do.

I have been reading about this for ages. I am waiting until I have the full series on my DVR. I love the second Doctor. I will give you a review of the animation next week. I think that's the final episode's run time.

Yes they did run them back to back on Christmas Day. I watched the first episode and enjoyed it. As far as the animation goes, I like it but it does get annoying. I understand they wanted to imitate the Kinescope recording era of TV in the 50's and 60's but it gets old. (so to speak)Since the first story of Patrick Troughton's era was lost to the ages, I think bringing it back in animated form was a cool idea and I can enjoy it in the spirit in which it was created. Troughton was the George Lazenby of Doctor Who. He proved that the Doctor could be played by someone else and played well. This show makes me want to try the Big Finish Second Doctor stories done with sound-alike voice actors. They have done a great job with Jon Pertwee's Doctor.

Overall it was a decent story. I always heard Troughton was funnier, but I guess that came later.
I liked the Capaldi XMas special.

I have watched two episodes of Power of the Daleks and I'm impressed. I did not realize that the soundtrack is from the actual episodes. I recorded the Christmas special but have only seen a few minutes of it. What I saw I enjoyed. Troughton was a lot funnier than the first Doctor and less grumpy. I have only seen 2 or 3 Troughton stories because most of them ended up erased like the story we are discussing.

The story was decent, but Classic Who is hard for me to watch.
In other news, looks like this season will be Capaldi's last.
